Please Help: I can't shift out of park

I own a 2005.5 Auto and cannot shift out of park. I have had the car for a year and have had no problems. I plan on calling the dealer tomorrow. Anyone know of a fix? I would like to get my car out of the street in front of my house.

Thank you.

Look up "shift lock" in the manual. I think that's what it's called, but I don't quite recall. You basically need to pop off the small black tab on the shift gate, and disengage park. If I had mine on me, I'd give you a page #, but I don't. Check the manual-- it's in there.

Sounds like your brake switch is having issues. I would have Infiniti check it out.

Funny. It's actually a 2003. I used the tool mentioned above to get the car out of park then drove it to the dealer to get it fixed. Thank you for the help.

Hmmmm, where can you get one of those tools? Might be a good investment once the roadside service runs out!

I think it's in your tool kit in the trunk... I think I saw it a few months ago when I rotated my wheels... hmmm, ....gotta remember to transfer it to the glove compartment.

Check your brake light fuse, if it burned you you won't be able to shift from park (I know that for sure). It's in the left driver's side kick plate (to the left of your pedals).
