Hot Air From Vent
Hot Air From Vent
I own a 2004 Sedan. Has anyone else experienced hot air coming from the vent when A/C is not used? Often the air coming from the vent is hotter than the outside air.
Thanks

Re: Hot Air From Vent
There is a fix on the DIY thread for this. You gotta do it
yourself.

Graphite Leather, splashguards, HKS exhaust,
14 wire Grounding kit, 350Z duct, Stillen CAI
Underbody rear diffusers, Drilled alum pedals
yourself.

I went to dealer today for 7,500 check up. I discussed this item with them. The will not fix it, since it has not been identified as a problem by the factory.

Hahaha, Dealerships and Nissan have been hearing about that issue ad infinitum......(pun intended). What you got was a dealer's way of 'cheaping out' on you, or he was too lazy to find out the score from Infiniti/Nissan.
It's an obvious flaw they're willing to ignore.[img]/w3timages/icons/frown.gif[/img]

Yeah, I get the hot air too. But mine is random. Sometimes it is warm and sometimes it is the same as the outside air. Infiniti could not find anything wrong with my a/c unit....

Re: Hot Air From Vent
What is your center vent temperature on medium speed vs Real outside temperature at cowl input vent [use electronic accurate thermometers] 3-4F warmer is considered normal at highway speed........hotter in traffic.
Re: Hot Air From Vent
I'm not quite sure what you are asking...My temp is set at 70 degrees. I have it on the vent mode (meaning when everything is off, I push the "mode" button. The fan or blower is not on, but air is flowing gently out of the vent (outside air).
With that said, sometimes the air is very warm and sometimes it feels normal. It seems to be independent of the air temperature outside. It is just random. None of my previous cars did this.

Re: Hot Air From Vent
Well if the radio says its 70F outside [they read in the shade above ground level and grass [specs by weather service], it can easily be 80F on the road and the hood over which air flows can be 90F, so how can the vent be 70F.
Experiments with an accurate electronic thermometer stuck to outside mirror to read air temp of the inlet air and thermocouples stuck inside vent indicate a 3-4F warmer temperature for the air passing from outside thru the fan past the heater closed door thru the turned off evaporator and up out the vents.
This is the test to make sure that the heater air mix door is closing completely. There are no specs for the non AC vent temperature.
Don't assume that the outside air is more than 30% of the mixed with inside air vent output.
On AC vent [non recirculate] the outside air is roughly 10% and 90% still recirculates.
Study your FSM to get exact specs vs temperature.

Re: Hot Air From Vent
Here is the deal. Its 60 outside my car. I turn on the blower at level one with outside air and no AC. It blows warm air. I roll down the window to cool the inside of the car. After 20 minutes of freeway driving, cooler air comes through the vent.
I assume the vent is somehow pulling warm air from the engine compartment.
