Okay, I'll bite. A rear turbo can be driven in the snow, does that make you happy?

I believe people are implying that it's not "logical", as that's what I personally have been getting at. Yes, I understand your scenario of a "cleared road", but clearly after it's clear of snow, it can still be salt ridden & wet, therefore all that $hit will get all over the turbo when driving...shield or no shield in front of it. Any logical person who invested that kind of $ in that setup would NOT drive their car in the winter in Utah.....

LOGIC? Lets check on the LOGIC of the company who built it shall we........

So LOGIC(your favorite word) would dictate that anyone having it removed or selling the car based on driving in the snow...........is in fact not logical. There is no issue, there never was an issue. If the owner doesn't want to drive it in the snow thats his choice.......but stop saying you can't drive an STS system in the snow when it's JUST YOUR OPINION.

OK, I was told not to drive it in the heavy rain so when 5-10 inches of snow is coming down I am not driving in the snow and you SHOULDNT. Freddy is in sales FYI.

Yes I know that, I also know he chatted with everyone in earshot or he wouldn't have sent the email saying that "engineers" couldn't think of a reason to stay out of snow.

If you want to baby your car and stay out of rain & snow, or sell it or have it removed because of that great, do what you want. But you just got a blessing from the company to drive in snow, so drive in it, enjoy the hell out of it and take any problems that result back to them.

After talking with STS I'm going to get an STS system as soon as I can afford it and I'm damn sure not going to have a car I drive 6 months out of the year after I do.

In the short term you are correct, but not in the long term 1+ years. It really depends on how much he pays to buy the second car. Since his more expensive car will no longer be a daily his insurance for 2 cars will go down, not by much but it will. At least this was true with my insurance company. I didn't go this route, but I did look into it.


To the OP, don't sell your car. You will just regret it. It is your toy. The turbo upgrade was like buying a 50" lcd to replace a 32" tube TV. Would you get rid of it a few weeks/months after? I know I wouldn't.
If gas is hurting you that much, then find ways to drive less. Also, look for ways to save money in other parts of your life. Example, instead of going to a burger joint for lunch, hit up a grocery store and buy a loaf of bread and Goober (PB & J mix). just a thought

You are the one that made this into a big issue. But in my book, I don't see it as an issue.

P.S. You can't drive an STS system in the snow.
