I could see how the early Gs with the smallish 11.6" rotors and single piston calipers would go though rotors. Remember this car stops from 60-0 in 110-115 ft. This is world class braking performance on small rotors. Infinti achieved this by using ultra harsh pads. Great performance at the expense of dust up the ying/yang and eaten up rotors.

Probably a reason why Infinti went with less agressive pads in 05 and made up for it with larger rotors and twin piston calipers.

ugh...these rotor pad issue again.

yea - if you really want to replace the rotor every brake pad change to get that solid feel in the pedal - yea sure replace them - but your brakes will still function if you just replace your pads

I'll give you another one. My '98 S70 T5 had this problem. The OEM rotors could not be resurfaced. Probably a cost-cutting measure, but they weren't manufactured thick enough to allow resurfacing and still fall within spec. They needed to be replaced with every 2nd set of pads, provided you didn't wear the pads down too far and create grooves.

FYI. After this happened to me the 2nd time at 60k miles (pads were 15k and rotors/pads 30k, like clockwork), I replaced them with aftermarket Brembo rotors, which still looked great when I sold the car 50k miles later.
