Help deciding, 05 06 or 07

I'm looking at G35x's and trying to decide what year to focus in on... I've seen other threads talking about differences but i'm still trying to get some specifics figured out. Looking for premium package + nav. I am in MN, so the "x" is a must.

05 had an older intelligent key, or maybe it wasn't available? Can anyone explain exactly what changed with the intel-key between 05 and 06?

07 obviously is the newer design and is much better all around, it's got everything.. I would take it, but am still looking for cheaper options with the 05 or 06's.

The 07 is of course the better choice among those years but you can pick up an 05/06 for a much lower price and still feel content with your purchase. If I wanted to spend the extra money I'd get an 07 without ever looking back.

'07 G35xS.... I believe '07 was the first year where the G35x came in the S version as well. Definitely go for something like that.

I guess the question is specifically about 05 vs 06. I know about the 07, but I'm looking for very specific details on 05 vs 06. Salesman is telling me the 05 and 06 g35x is identical except for bluetooth on the 06, but I'm pretty sure he's wrong.. From what I've read there are some pretty significant differences I think. But I have not compared the two side by side..

I guess I'm nitpicking but I don't believe him when he says they're identical... I have read about general things like memory seats, cosmetic changes with lights (although that might be the coupe?), and something about intelligent key. But I really need the specifics…

Thank you..

the main difference between the 05X and the 06X is the brakes. The 06X brakes were larger. They improved the brakes for the RWD model in 05 but the X did not see those brakes until 06. Other than that and the bluetooth, they were identical. Intellikey was offered on the 05+ models with premium package B, but was not a push button start like the 07+.

edit: The navigation system in the 2006 was also improved as well from 05. Although still not touchscreen, it had somewhat better graphics and display than the 03-05 navigation system. So really the only things that changed from the 2005X to 2006X were bluetooth, navigation system, and brakes IIRC.

He is right, that is about the only difference between the 05 and 06 x. Seems to me there might have been 2 differences but the other was trivial. I have an 05x BTW. If you are finding bigger differences, it is changes from 04 to 05.

Now there may have been some differences in the way Infiniti packaged the options, meaning something like memory seats were available only with premium pkg in 05 but std in 06, but I'm not real sure of that because I have premium with just about all options. I have no way of knowing what is missing.

05 and 06 intelligent key are the same, basically you just have the key in your pocket, but you turn an old school ignition even though you don't put a key in it. 07 gets keyless push button start.

And for another reference, I bought mine a few months back, unfortunatly just before car sales really tanked, with a trade so I'm not sure but my guess is I paid around 22-23k. I think it was a bit high but the car only had 8k on it and was spectacularly clean and cared for. I wanted it because it was so clean and didn't care if I paid an extra grand or so to make sure I got that one.

07 without a doubt. 07 was the first year they made enough changes to be worth considering over previous years.

05-06 basically the same car... and both pale by comparison to 07. and neither had enough changes to make it worth considering over 04...

Or wait until the G37X sedan comes out.

I'm with the consensus on this. Wait to save up just a little bit more and get the 07. I had an 08 (exact same as 07) sedan journey pack as a loaner and that thing really impressed me. It's waaay faster than my 05 coupe with much better build quality.

I'm going to look at 2nd gen g35 sedan owners with an envious eye now.
