Fuel consumption display

I don't yet own a G35x so I was wondering if anyone can tell me what information is available on the trip computer in terms of fuel consumption. Does it provide an updating "instantaneous" fuel consumption value? Also, what is available on the "enhanced trip computer" when you have the DVD Navigation system?

Thanks.

Ps. I posted this question on a regional forum, but decided to ask in the general forum. Please forgive me if you've seen this question before.

Re: Fuel consumption display

I have the nav. system. There, you can display the average mpg and also see an approximate mpg based on your speed and/or acceleration which looks like a moving bar graph in a green leaf. There is also a history chart of bar graph that you can look at which displays approximately the last ten times that you reset the mpg.

Re: Fuel consumption display

The "enhanced trip computer" in the Nav system is just a basic trip computer. You get no trip computer without the Nav system. It just gives you average speed, mpg, distance to empty, the green leaf "instant" economy, and the mpg history chart.

Without the Nav system, all you have is the A & B tripometers in the odometer display.

Thanks for the info.

This brings up another question, what other information is available with the Navi option?

Re: Fuel consumption display

The Nav has maintanence reminders (based strictly on mileage, that you can adjust) for oil and oil filter changes. It gives you elapsed time and average speed in addition to the distance-to-empty and average mileage. When you're low on gas, it pops up a screen offering to find the nearest gas station for you, and gives you the 5 closest to choose from.

Plus the Nav-type things that it does.

Re: Fuel consumption display

Have 3,000 miles on my 6MT, mileage has increased to 24 avg, 80% rural and 20% town/city driving - I "granny shift" unless power is needed (skipping gears, short shifting, etc.), and usually go with a 2nd gear start, then 4th, then 6th - again, unless the power is needed. I do seem to find some pretty weak reasons for "needing" the power, though - so I'm hittin' the loud pedal often enough to keep the fun factor in the forefront.

Re: Fuel consumption display

I thought a tire pressure monitor as standard on all '04s. Does that mean I had to pay $2000 to use it?

G35x finally here! Black on graphite, premium, spoiler

Re: Fuel consumption display

Nope. The pressure monitor is standard on all '04's. You get a little idiot light that comes on on the dashboard when one of your tires is low. You have to get out a tire gauge and measure them to find out which one and how much yourself. The Nav system doesn't give you any additional info on tire pressure, as far as I know. Someone with an '04 and Nav confirm this.. mine's an '03 and I'm going by what I've heard.
