new member with problem
hi everyone, i just got a new G35 last week. its diamond graphite with premium, sports, and aero package with the 5AT. when i first got the car the steering wheel was shaking abnormally at highway speed (65-70mph). i first thought that simply balancing the tires would do the trick but it did nothing. brought it back to the dealer and they said they would look at it again, they said it was perfectly balanced. it is still shaking. so the service guy said the car could of been sitting on the lot for awhile and the tires could of been flatspotted. so they said they will replace the tires for me which hopefully will cure the problem. has anyone had this problem before or have any suggestions or what i could be. i'm curious to hear what everyone has to say. thanks
Brett

Wow, is that brand new?
Unbelievable to me. If it is new I would not care if they replaced the tires or not as long as they fix the problem.
Happy to own my G35X

Re: new member with problem
What a strange problem to have with a new car! I guess the tires could be the problem (let's hope so), but I have a lot of cars and some sit for up to 6 months without being driven and I never have that problem.
Last week I took my '91 Pontiac SSE (still the best overall highway cruiser I've owned - a real "goin' to Vegas" machine) for a ride for the first time in about 6 months, and the ride was really "lumpy" for the first 10-15 miles, but before long we're running 100 MPH+ and she's smooth and quiet and comfortable - the same ol' cruiser I used to know! Tires are Falken Ziex 502's ("Z" rated), maybe that's the cause - what kind of tires do you have?
Keep us posted - curious to see what the final result is, what the cause was, and just as important, how you felt you were treated by the "powers that be".

I have only heard of this problem with after market Rim/Tire combinations. Keep us posted, I would like to know their solution.

the car was brand new, it had something like 30 miles on it when i picked it up. since i have the sports package, in have the "summer tire" which are they goodyear gs-d's i believe. next week they said if the problem continues they will replace the tires. i really hope that solves the problem, i cant imagine it doesnt but i LOVE this car and wouldnt want something like this to ruin "the experience." thanks for all your help

jgordonwin: I have same tires on same car - they're great! Don't screw around (or let the dealer do so) - get those tires replaced and start enjoying that car!

i had the same problem, but it just went away on it's own. then again mine only sat in the lot for about a week. good luck with it. just make sure that they don't scuff up the rims...
