Noob Question - how to remove stock jack
sorry for the dumb questions guys, just wanted to ask how to get the stock jack out of the car. I'm sure I could figure it out with time, but if someone can tell me how to get it out of that little cubby in the trunk without effort, it'll probably come in handy one of these days.
Thanks in advance.

I didn't even try, just looked like a bit of a tight space so I figured I should try getting it out once before I need it in an emergency. I thought asking first would be helpful.
I'm actually reasonably mechanically inclined. I did the spacer on my own as well as opening up my headlights on my g35. On my old mx6 I did struts/shocks replacement, inner tie rod replacement, caliper replacement with brake bleeding, master clutch cylinder replacement and system bleed, etc. etc. etc.
Just seemed easier to ask first rather than trying. Perhaps it would have been better to simply pm someone, but oh well. I'm sure someone down the line might find this thread useful...
The location of the stock jack in our cars is the dumbest location I've seen. I'm glad my jack finally broke (after using it countless times for tire/brake jobs) so that I never need to reach into that cubby spot in the trunk

it goes in upright... it would be hard to get pics since its hard to see into the cubby... kinda have to "feel" it... put the jack at its lowest position, place it in the compartment upright with the turning mechanism facing out - it will rest on its bracket, then turn it open/extended a bit until its snug and doesn’t move.
Not the best explanation, but that’s all I have
After you've done it a couple times, its second nature.

The OEM jack for the G35 is a POS. I suggest chocking your wheels to ensure the car doesn't move at all as my jack collapsed and I know other members have had the same issue. I got a replacement Nissan jack from an 08 Altima and the difference is night an day. At least I can use it in an emergency.

haha - #13 posts. Guess this wasn't as stupid a post as you thought Ttrank
I just figured it out. Now it is very simple. Yes, you all said the same thing, but I'll try explaining it my way.
To remove: Twist the tab with the hole on it counterclockwise to lower/collapse the jack. The jack should slide out of the hole.
To replace: Ensure the jack is collapsed fully. Insert the jack into the cubby hole such that the tab with the hole in it is still visible (ie. insert the opposite end). Now holding the jack in the fully inserted position, twist the tab with the hole clockwise until the jack has expanded/risen such that it fits the contour of the hole that it is seated it. Really it is just the jacks expansion that puts tension on the surrounding case that keeps it in place.
I hope this helps those that had difficulty removing/reinserting the jack like me.
