K member?!!!

SO i went to the dealer and they said one of the bushings is leaking very mildly. It's 1500 to fix it. Does that sound right?

Sounds excessive! Which bushing are they referring to- the G has several.

they said one of the bushings is leaking and that they are a part of the whole assembly. I honestly have no clue what to think of this because it sounds like it could potentially be serious but even my adviser said just drive on it lol all the input is much appreciated

can you educate me on the placement of them and what should i ask? Maybe a picture of the under-body with someone pointing me to the whole K-member bushings. I'm a visual person and having a hard time with this one. thanks again!

I believe there are 4 K member bushings (see enclosed pictures # 5 going from left to right: http://www.hotrod.com/howto/113_0708_engine_swap/photo_06.html). Mine squeek during the winter, so I spray them with white or red lithium grease and the noise goes away for 2-3 months and returns after weeks and weeks of road salt, snow, ice and rain. I spray wash the underbelly of the car every week during the winter and then when the squeek returns, respray with a good lithium grease. This can go on for years and years with no damage. If you begin to hear a clunking sound when you hit bumps, then look at the bushings more seriously. On my 3 Volvo's with >300K miles, I never replaced the bushings, just sprayed them down occasionally. This model should apply to the G since I've done the same with it 4 times in 2 years. I could be wrong so hopefully someone with more expertise here could better assist you. However, $1500 would require replacing the entire K member unit at the very least-- get a 2nd opinion.

the dealership showed me a K member they replaced recently and now i have a better idea of what i'm looking at. The bushing that is leaking is the rear right one. i seem to be having an extremely hard time to find one not from the dealership and I also would like to know where to purchase compression rods without getting ripped off...All the help is much appreciated!

You can purchase the compression rod bushing by itself as it is the failing component. They are very cheap on their own.

would you guys happen to know if this kit offers anything I need? i.e. the compression rod bushings or perhaps even K member bushings? the dealership names everything different from other manufacturers so it's really hard to look for correct parts.
