What kind of oil? If you both (and specificly her) don't drive it like a rental car, then you are probably okay. If you are running synthetic, even better. If this has any potential to recurr, make sure you run really good oil and top-shelf oil filters!

And no, don't divorce her. Just punnish her by making her perform thing she hasn't done since the ceremony!

RJP6:

Recently had my first oil change at the 3700 mile mark, did it at Speedy Lube with 5/30 Wt Castrol conventional oil. Dealer would do the first oil change for free, but I've gotta drive 35 miles, then either wait for the service or get a loaner, but either way I have to waste a lot of valuable time, so forget it! I also don't want the dealer washing my car, as I'm told they do automatically - no scratches or swirl marks in my paint, thank you!

I do plan on taking it to the dealer for the 7,500 mile service, then only on major service/maintenance schedule thereafter, with oil changes done by Speedy (or my 24 yr. old son, "Slowy but carefully"). My $0.02.

I change my own oil and filter and anything that's outside the engine and tranny. A couple of thousand miles over or under is really not a big deal. With the modern oil whether synthetic or dino, you are well protected.

My wife let me trade a perfectly good Volvo 850 with no monthly payments for a beautiful G35x that we'll be paying off for the next 5 years. Should I divorce her for exercising poor judgement when she married me?

I like your post. Kind of kicks that whole personal responsibility thing to the curb where it belongs - don't you think?

Re: how bad is this???

unbelievable..... serve her with the papers ASAP. with the kind of reckless behavior she has shown, i doubt she could even find an attorney to represent her.

Re: how bad is this???

you can easily go several thousand miles over if you aren't racing the car around in 90+ degree weather or towing something heavy. Don't worry about it, don't fall into the "oh crap, I have to make sure my oil is changed at the exact interval" club, unless of course you have a lease and don't want any issues with the dealer.
