Exclamation What does this cord do?

Hey guys-

When I took out my stock exhaust and installed a Greddy exhaust, I left this cord dangling down (upper left corner w/ yellow tape). I never knew what it was for but I suspected that I might have been some sort of grounding wire. I let it dangle down until about a year later (a few weeks ago) when I took out the bolt that held it to the car, looped it back up, and screwed it in so it wouldn't dangle.

My question is: what is it and do I need it? Thanks. BTW, that is not my car.

Should I try reconnecting it to my aftermarket exhaust? What happens, if anything, if I don't?

Yes.. definitely reconnect it to your exhaust(aftermarket or not). Alot of 5AT guys added grouding kits to their cars so the the throttle is more responsive

pretty sure it's not a grounding wire. It's just a cord/rope that is attached to the under body of the car incase the exhaust bolts somehow fall off so the exhaust is not left behind you. Saftey precaution

Highly doubtful. That's what the hangers are for bud. The wire is thin and couldnt hold the heavy oem muffler.

That is the most creative answer I have ever heard!!
Re-install it as it is just a grounding wire.

lol, most cars have a ground wire attached to the shield of the STOCK cat. the shield of the stock cat after a couple years rusts and starts to rattle and fall off. once it falls or someone takes it off your left with that ground cable attached to nothing.

I've seen it a lot of times. connected or not its not going to do much.
