Question How long have you had your car and how has it treated you?

I am pretty set on getting an 05 or 06 G35 6-speed sedan. My criteria is a reliable rwd with a manual transmission. The only things I don't like about the car is that its mileage is a little lower than some of the competition, its already been replaced with a newer model (I want the newest car possible for $15k) and the oil consumption thing concerns me a little. I also want something that I will enjoy for for at least 3 or more years.

keep in mind that most people in this forum are "enthusiasts", and love their car more than the average person (as well as have the time and technical savviness to participate on this forum).

also, typically, anyone who is dissatisfied with their car after awhile is most likely to sell it.

some things to consider when getting this car (compared to it's primariy competition of BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Acura) is that even though those models may get better MPG or better oil consumption, they are typically higher in purchase price. thus, you will have to consider your net savings.

if you are primarily concerned about MPG, check out fueleconomy.gov. I just compared a 2005 BMW 330xi to the Infiniti G35, and both show MPG at 19.

ive had the car for a year and its a great car but i am ready to move on. the only real problem ive had with the vehicle was a leaking seal on the power steering pump that wasnt covered under warranty...it costs me 970 to fix at the dealership.

Just picked mine up about a month ago. Can't complain, expect for the gas but cant blame it either because of my heavy foot when I first got the car. lol. But I have been cruising now on the far right/left lane, so the mileage has been better.

I think it will be 2 years in July. So far so good, I did have the normal problems but I bought an extended warranty when I got her and all problems were fixed. Im not ready to move on, I really love this car. Once I finish my color change I will be in love all over again.

It will be 3 years for mine in September. Great, fast sporty vehicle with awesome handling and performance, and pretty safe too (safer than our POS '98 Corolla, sad to say).

I've owned mine since January 2005. I've had it long enough now to consider it like a good pair of jeans. I doubt I'll get rid of it for a very long time and will just buy an S2000 or something similiar for auto-x and weekend fun. I find this car extremely enjoyable and reliable.

To the orignial poster, be very careful with those Revup motors. Oil consumption appears not to be a question of if you're G will have an OC problem, but when. Also, those 6MTs have quite the issues too.

Bought my silver G35X in March 2004. Light use and self maintenance has made it easy to own. I'll probably still have it in 2024. YMMV.

I've read that its hit and miss and there's probably no way for me to know if mine will be effected or not. I probably shouldn't worry too much about consumption because I don't drive all that often and the car will probably spend over 90% of its life (with me) being babied. I was really worried about this at first but I figure its like almost ever other problem I have read about on the internet. Things have a way of being blown out of proportion once the reach the net.

What issues does the 6-speed have? I've read that they can be tricky to shift smoothly but haven't seen anything else.

I've had my 05 6MT for 8 months now. No complaints. Kinda wish i had an IP Nismo Sedan though. Currently have 81k miles and debating if I want to upgrade to a 07 model when i hit 110k miles. Overall very satisified!

'05 Sedan 5AT - 56,000km (35,000 miles) - bought it new almost 4 years ago.

No issues, problems, glitches or complaints. Completely satisfied.
