I always hear good things about Optima and I'll need to replace my battery sooner or later. I am still on the oem battery but cranks fine.
I just did a look up on the Optima website and for RedTop it said "35". Also read some threads and some used 34R and another DIY thread uses 35. What's the difference? The R is reversing the + and - right? So Optima battery post by default is different than our car battery?
Standing in front of the car, Neg is to the left and Pos is to the right so regular Optima battery is Pos on the left and Neg on the right?

It's funny reading this thread. Blownvert you have a few options and I am not being sarcastic.
1) Continue living in a fairy tale where things just lasts forever and fixes by itself
2) Start out by examining one of the obvious (battery). You car is 5 yrs old, the battery can die any minute. I bought this tool last month, cost me $15 bucks I think and you can check your battery life WITHOUT OPENING THE HOOD.

What's so scary about opening the hood anyway? Also, if you ever plan to get another car, you'll need to maintain it, otherwise get a lease.

It doesn't matter where you get it from, just make sure you get a decent warranty with it. The one I got from Auto Zone has a 3 year free replacement warranty and is prorated after that, up to 7 years.

Volts really only tells you the output of the alternator.
Only way to test the battery is to put a load on it using a tester similar to this
It has a resistor which loads up the battery and then it measures how much current it can pass through.
If you go to Autozone they can test it. Sometimes you don't even need to take it out of the car.
