window rolls up then keeps kicking back down 1/4 way ?????

03 sedan...

now this is annoying !

So I hit the auto roll up to roll the drivers side door window all the way up and when it hits the top it automatically kicks back down about 1/4 of the way then stops.

what causes this it just started out of the blue.

I have to roll the window up and let off the up switch just barely before the window gets all the way up leaving the window barely "cracked" open just to get the damn thing up.

It's the window limit switch inside your door panel which has to be reset. Common annoyance in our G's, and very easy fix for it too (see thread below):

seemed like tempreature changes caused this to begin with mine. Started only when it was real hot outside. Weird.

thanks a lot !

It's also common for the Nissan Maxima, I heard. Yeah I believe outside temperature swings have a lot to do with the way the windows/door locks operate on our cars. I was out of the country for a month (left my car outside on the driveway the entire time). Came back and found that the auto function for my passenger window was acting up. The DIY fix took me 10-15 min to do.

Sounds like your window motor is dead or on it's way. go to Autozone they have Lifetime warranty on their window motors, I paid around $201.00 but if you give them the old part you will get $40.00 back. so your basically paying around $160.00.. so far i don't have any issues.

I just got my driver's window motor replaced under warranty. Hooray for the elite extended warranty...
