I wanna get mine repainted, I did them myself last time but it doesn't match the paintjob completely, is kind of dull, more like a flat black even tho I put clear, anybody paint their sills themselves, what kind of sandpaper, wet, dry?, primer?, I don't wanna pay a shop cuz I'm getting a bodykit in a few months, I just want them to be glossy and match the paintjob without drips, thanks in advance

i did one side today it only took me like one hour, it came out alot better, looks great, i sprayed it with black primer then i sanded it down with 600 grit sandpaper then i put more primer then i put like 3 coats of gloss black spray paint then 3 coats of clear

 

is it hard to do this for my g which is desert platinum. and does anyone know how much this would cost to get done professionally?

 

if you get it done professional it should be 100 for each panel at the most, so 100 for each skirt and 100 for each front and back, 400 total

 

what about doing it myself would it be hard to get my hands on that paint color and what would be a rough estimate if i could?

 

um im not sure about that one, mine was easy cuz is black, i bought a can of regular black spray paint for like 7 bucks

 

damn ur lucky a guy near me got his painted and it cost 375 but he said it was a pretty good job, but i really rather do it myself it will save me a lot of cash

 

yea but it will always look alot better if you do it professional, just save up, i would only advice to do it yourself if you plan on getting an aftermarket bodykit soon

Try $1000 to $1500. Those were the quotes I got and they're in line with what others have paid on this site. Most shops don't want to have anything to do with painting these plastic panels because they know that if they don't get the prep just right, the paint isn't going to stick well at all.

You can rattle can it for dirt cheap, but the quality of the finish (depth, gloss) is nothing like you'll get with a true spray gun and OEM paint. Rattle can paint is nothing like true automotive paint.
