New to the Forums

Hello guys. First I want to thank you admins for creating this forum which I after browsing couple of posts found out very helpful.

I got my 05 G35 premium package car a few months ago with 40K miles on it and for 14000. So far I have installed K&N Cold Air Intake and changed spark plugs with Pulstar DG-1 plugs. I am also planning to install Borla exhaust system soon, in a month or so.

The next thing I want to do is to add spacer. I have two in mind right now Motordyne and Skunk 2 Plenum Spacers. Which one should I go with?

Welcome to the forum

You might also look at a 5/16 or 1/2 motordyne plenum spacer for some added power
Edit: I didn't read your last line lol. Go with Motrodyne 100% their the best from what I read and hear.

btw about your SparkPlugs, many users have problems with them

Thanks for the reply and I am definitely going to change to NGK spark plugs after reading the links that you included.

Also should I go with Laser Platinum or Iridium IX?

A lot of us use these and they are great. Also pretty cheap from this site and fast shipping as well.

Thanks Blue Dream for the provided link for the spark plugs.

So what goes to Plenum spacer, I noticed there are two different thicknesses available 5/16 and 1/2". And as I read 1/2 is better than 5/16. However, would you go with Motordyne Basic Plenum Spacer or Iso Termal Plenum Spacer? Whats the difference if both give you 12-14hp gain?

Thanks again

welcome to the forum, but from my opinion of sitting in cars with both 5/16 and 1/2 spacers and reading/searching, the 5/16 is more of a low to midrange gain and the 1/2 is towards the high end. correct me if im wrong but all depends on what your goal is. good luck with everything

The 5/16s was recommended to me. I went with it and like it. We don't know where you are located. Iso thermal is really recommended for the cold weather. I bought the Iso Thermal, but did not install the extra parts, as the weather here does not really necessitate their use. I did purchase it still because the gasket it comes with was recommended. (The aramid gasket). For me, it was cheaper than buying the basic and then the gasket.

Welcome,
Dave

As far as I understood, both Iso termal and copper plenum spacers are designed for cold weather and I dont need them since I live in Cali.

I guess I will stick with the 5/16" basic Motordyne Plenum Spacer for three reasons:

1) There is only 1hp difference between 5/16 and 1/2
2) 5/16 costs 65$ cheaper than 1/2.
3) When having 1/2 installed, you can not close the engine cover. (I have read it somewhere)

Also, does anyone know the cheapest website I can get the MD spacer? So far the cheapest I found was this one

1. The difference between the 2 sizes is more than just the HP difference. The 1/2 will give you a bigger top end, but the 5/16ths has a more useful power curve. Get the 5/16ths.
3. Many people run their cars without the engine cover.

Cheapest is probably Riverside Infiniti. You can PM Rick or Tony (members on here) for a price. I got my 5/16ths Copper ISO unit for about $240 shipped.

Alright, thanks for the great info.

Two months past since my first post.
I changed number of stuff

1) spark plugs with NGK IR iridium (as the guy recommended)
2) Installed MD 5/16 plenum spacer
3) Installed Stillen Gen 2 catback exhaust system (even though at first i was going for borla)

What other mod do you guys think I should add to my car? Be honest with you I am not after headers nor Hi flow catalytic converters at least right now.

what do you guys think about stillen engine dumpers or upgrading gearing for better acceleration? Thanks

I would recommend a tune so you can maximize what you've already installed. A spacer, or a spacer & intake, will see some benefit from a tune (every car will), but when you've added major exhaust components along with the intake mods you'll definitely get a bump in performance. You should do some reading on tunes (Osiris/Uprev) to get a better idea of what kind of numbers you'll see (10-15 HP, maybe?).
