New Brake Pads

When you order new brake pads, do the clips come with them?

I just got calipers in the mail today from a salvage yard and one pad was missing, and a few of the metal plates that go behind the pads.

Do I just need to order new pads or clips/plates as well?

oem pads do not come with backing shims nor bracket hardware.

aftermarket pads may come with shims, but most likely not hardware.

use plenty of grease.

Like i said, sometimes parts stores sell hardware kits that contain the shims, bolts, etc.

The brakes are different, so nothing interchanges. On the 05-06 brakes, there is a backing plate that clips on the pads, and two anti-squeal clips that slide on the caliper. The pads also have some wear indicator clips on them.

The backing plates you are talking about are the shims correct?

Yeah, i guess they are technically shims, but i don't think they are needed. I think they are more for noise reduction by offering a sliding surface when the caliper vibrates. When i did my brakes, i left the front one off since I thought a silver calipers and black brake pad contrasted nicely together. It's been off with no issues at all. I left the back one on though...because nobody sees it. I just made sure i lubed it well where the shim rode on the pistons and where the pads seated into the caliper "U-brace"

Nice... well I actually cant believe it but I think I do have all the hardware... hard to believe that didn't fall out of the open box as well... (thanks ups). anyway I painted my front calipers silver last night and I'm about to paint the rear ones silver tonight. I got all the rotors on the way and my new break pads are on the way as well! I will be sure to post pics when finished.
