Quote: Oh I see, just wondering because the price looks good.

What tire brand, size and width would you recommend for stockers (17's) to optimize handling and reduce body roll?
For the stock rims, I'd suggest the OEM size. Tire brand wise, that's open for debate. I've really liked my Pirelli PZeros on my aftermarket 18s, but pretty much anything that's a z or w-rated summer only tire with a sub 300 wear rating is going to handle really good and will make a huge improvement, especially if you're on the OEM RSAs.

Add in a mild 1 to 1.5" drop, stiffer shocks, and maybe a rear sway bar and the handling and overall feel will improve dramatically.

Unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any sway bars or good shocks available for the G35X AWD?

Yesterday I took delivery of a GT Spec rear tie bar and a coupe middy... To be installed soon!

I will be painting the bar silver and may put it on tonight if I have time. Pics for sure.

As far as the coupe middy, it's a bit rusty so I'm going to take it to a local shop to have it bead blasted and then I'll recoat it with some silver high temp paint.

I wanted to have my stock muffler bead blasted too, but I can't really be without my car and all those shops are only open from Monday thru Friday, so I'll prolly paint it myself. Any suggestions on what would look best? Flat black? I know there is a thread about some guys stripping and polishing the muffler, but I'm not so sure I want to put that much effort into it. I'd much rather have it bead blasted, and if I can swing it I will.

It would seem that getting something bead blasted is a big pain in the a** around here. I called 5 different places and they all said they were soooooo backed up that it would be a couple weeks... I'm not waiting that long, let the sanding begin.

Don't waste your money. Take a power sander and pull off the rust. Tack cloth it, hit with a good primer that can handle rust, and then paint with a high temp engine paint. Do the same with the OEM muffler. I painted my OEM muffler flat black. I hate seeing mufflers hanging out the back of a car, polished chrome or not.

^ Good call DaveB. I've decided it's not all that rusted after all.

Rear tie bar is on. I have no clue if it helped stiffen anything. Couldn't tell after a test drive. Oh well, it was practically free, so it's on and never coming off!

^ Thanks! I do think the bar looks better painted silver.

Speaking of the bar, and I may be completely crazy (so I've been told), but backing out of the driveway this morning I did noticed that a couple of small creaks were non-existent. It may be all in my head and if so then that is just fine with me. If for nothing, my girlfriend said the bar looks cool. I gotta think that either the mid 4 point brace or the strut bar and front lower tie brace could be even better. I'm leaning towards the front lower tie bar next, maybe the strut bar if I can find one used that fits.

I'll be sanding down the midpipe and muffler though this weekend. Thanks for the tips DaveB. I'm picking up the exhaust gaskets today from the dealer and by Sunday I'll have it all together. Pics to come!

P.S. I'm sure there are some peeps out there that think this thread is totally ghay... Whatever. If someone gleens even one tip out of this process then it was worth it in my opinion.

^we call those ricers. I've noticed in the G35 community those who prefer aftermarket stuff over oem will usually still give props to a very clean G with oem upgrades

This thread is useful so keep us updated.

On another note, why are you so concerned with chassis stiffness? You plan on tracking the car?

^ I may do a track day at some point. My friend goes to Heartland Park in Topeka a couple times a year so I'll prolly tag along with him. ALSO, because I absoutley hate creaks, squeaks, and rattles so anything I can do to elimate those I'm all for.

Did your car have creaks, squeaks, rattles before you put on the 350evo sway and tie bar?

I understand a lil stiffness is good for daily driving handling but just wondering how you would benefit from a adding a strut bar and or a 4 point brace?

Not questioning on your mods so hope you not getting mad, just wondering if i could benefit from these items.
