4mer, I installed my HKS today and I have to say I'm really happy with it. The look is ballin' but understated, and the sound is great. Low, deep, and melodic. Reminds me of the coupe sound just a touch louder.

The only thing I'm not completely sold on is the HKS paired with the coupe mid. I'm going to run this for a week then swap out the mid for my stock one. I'll run that for a week and then decide which one to stick with. The CM does produce a small amount of drone, but it's not enough to make me want to get rid of it.

I just want to compare the sound of both middies.

I'll report back next week with my observations.

Yes louder than the coupe with NO rasp. By far the best sounding sedan exhaust I have heard. You have to hear it in person to appreciate it.



That's what I'm running as well. I drove about 60 miles after the install and it seems like it picked up a little bit of power. Could be all in my head though.

I'll post up next week with the midpipe comparison.

 

Haha, you know I'm just bustin' your *****. I'm as curious as anyone to hear your thoughts on the various configurations. My mod list is hardly pure OEM and just got a little less OEM today, too.

Well, unfortunately wasn't able to get to the dyno Saturday morning and the next few Saturday's are completely booked up. I have the G37 HR y-pipe now and will most likely put it on soon, so as sh*tty as it is you all will have to rely on my butt dyno for feedback on the pipe...unless I can figure something else out.

I also have the Z/G spring combo in my garage now and will be 'springing' for the D-Specs soon, unless the ride in DaveB's car today changes my mind and I decide to save a few bones to go with OEM replacements instead. He's running 350Z shocks/struts on Z/G springs...

My bigger delima is that I also picked up some coupe rims for real cheap. The rims have been painted a gray color, almost a gun metal and I'm not sure I'm sold on it. No curb rash at all but one rim has a few chips and will need either touched up or painted again. Problem is I don't know what the color is so I may just repaint them all as close to the factory color as possible. Any ideas here would be welcome for sure!

 

Pics of rims? You could probably flog them and get some with the factory finish.

heard good things about the d-specs. As for the OEM Z shocks, you could always hunt for used ones if you liked the ride of Dave's car. You could prob get a low miles used set for under 150 shipped.

I like the finish of those wheels. I have the stock colored cpe 18's wheels on my sedan. You decide what tires size you are goin to run and what brand?

 

The finish is REAL nice, looks like it was either done professionally or by someone who knew what they were doing. Just not sure I'm sold on it, especially since they didn't paint the center caps. They stand out when you see it in person.

Tire size? Glad you asked. I'm thinking 235/45, but would really like to go with the 245/45 tires to add just a little more meat. Just worried about rubbing, but DaveB said there shouldn't be any worries there. As far as brand, it'll probably be whatever is cheap from TireRack like the Kumho Ecsta's or similar. What are you running Johnnyone?

I've had the Kumho Ecsta's SPT on my car for about 11 months now. Got 20k miles out of the front tires, camber was at -1.5. Inside of tire had lots of camber wear but could have rode another 2k- 3k miles on them. Good tires, quiet and good traction. Paid like $130 a piece from what i remember.

I now have nankang ns-2. It's a good looking tire and traction appears to be just a good as the SPT. It's been raining a bunch here lately and they have done really good on the wet roads. They were $85 a piece from tires-easy.com. Good customer service fast shipping.

I also heard (www.citytireonline.com) has good price but you have to call for price quotes.

here is my car with 235 / 45 in the rear and 225 / 45 up front.

 

Unless the strut bar connects to the firewall or comes with fender braces, the tie bar will make the bigger difference. You will barely feel a strut bar do anything unless you have everything else taken care of, and even then the difference won't be as huge as the front tie bar.

I don't care what kind of mods you are planning to do, but end your day with a reflash. It may be a bit pricey, but it's the only mod that's guaranteed to show gains that you can feel on any car.
