License plate thing missing?

I was about to buy LED for my license plate to replace the light, and I realize...I don't have the housing? I'm guessing when I bought it, it was removed? or that comes separate. All I see when i look up that hole where the rear license plate is a big gap and 2 metal rectangles pieces on the left and the right side...i doubt that is the light. Anybody else have the same problem

Is it possible for the lamp to someone pop out of place and fall behind into the gap. Because I got rear ended once thats why im wondering, and i do see a black thick wire in there, ill try pulling it back up and see.

if you got rearended and had it repaired....the shop might've never replaced it or just didnt install it back properly so its possible it can just be behind, or it can just be the wire and nothing attached to it.

Ok. What I actually found out today when I reached into where the lamp is suppose to be is a long black thick wire. I grabbed it and try to pull the lamp out hoping there was one. What I found was the line was just connected to another place I don't know what. So that means I will need to buy the lamp, but the price ain't bad. Thanks A lot guys.

before you buy it... you may want to make sure that whatever that wire is attached to isnt the lights and they are just stuck between the actual bumper and bumper cover..

Those lights plug into a connector under the left taillight, which you can see if you take off that taillight..
