Why does everyone love OEM stuff so much???
sedans dont have a huge REAL JDM good aftermarket parts....witch sucks really bad! I so want cusco and more HKS stuff more ARC stuff apexi stuff JIC stuff just more real good top quality Japanese suff that others get and we dont
And the REAL JDM skylines 350gt kinda suck...no real good "JDM" stuff besides clear corners, side wind visors and stupid skyline and nissan badges
yeah man but i defiantly feel you on the OEM upgrades...im also not a big fan of it at all, but hey watever people like i guess!

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

This will help you understand why I like the look. Quoted from another thread.
So far all of my mods are about half OEM and half aftermarket. The aftermarket pieces are:
Rear lip
Mikes Mount/Invisicord
Tein hood dampers (should have come on the car in the first place)
Tein H-Techs
MD 5/16" spacer.
OEM include:
Front lip (has become my favorite mod so far)
JDM right hand battery cover
Coupe 19" Rays
HR y-pipe
Coupe midpipe
Revup airbox
Z tube
G35Driver decals
Rear debadge (removal of OEM parts)
JDM bump clear corners
I am buying a HKS muffler next week because I like the deep, melodic tone it brings out in the VQ, and almost all of my parts have been purchased used from members on here at a significant savings over new.
At this time, I prefer the "improved stock" look as well. At my age, it's not realistic for me to have a blinging car with deep dish rims, super loud exhaust, or a stereo thumping for blocks. Back in the day, hell yes!! So I have Frankenstein'd together a perfect blend for my tastes. My car stands out to only enthusiasts that appreciate the changes, and looks stock to everyone else. Just the way I like it

G35 sedan w/ too much money in mods

i'm all for blending oem and aftermarket. I'm 35 and don't want a flashy ride. I want to make my g appear to be oem, but make it the way i felt it should have come from the factory. I want someone to step back and say, what's different about this g? It's looks so much more sporty than other gs i've seen. That's my goal.
I'm running a oem springs off a z and g coupe, shocks from the z, a y-pipe from an 07 z, an airbox from the revup vqs, a midpipe from a 05 g sedan, taillights from the 05/06 skyline sedan, an aero bumper, and aftermarket low key multispoke 18s. The car looks factory, but put it next to a stock g35 sedan and it will make it look like a base camry. The handling and overall feel is much better as is the sound and throttle response of the vq. All of these oem parts were bought for well under $100 each except for the aero bumper.

G35 sedans are common where I live. I've seen a few G's with their OEM "upgrades". Unless you own a G it looks like all the other G35's. I dont get spending money to make your car look stock.
The whole point is to make your car look how you want it to look. For many people, including myself, this means sticking to OEM. Even if I wanted to drop $3K on some aftermarket wheels, there are very few out there that I would choose over Coupe 18's, 19's, or G37 19's. They just look like they were made to be on a sedan.
I buy what looks good. IDGAF if its OEM or not.
Do you know how many people who have told me that the coupe 19s are the best OEM wheels they have ever seen? Case in point.

there are plenty of performance upgrades that make a difference from stock (even different/better than other version OEM parts)... and most enthusiasts are into performance.
As for aesthetic modding... I used to try to keep it subtle but different... but over time others do the same thing and the car isn’t all that unique... so more aggressive approaches taken to keep it from looking like all the others... tying to do that and still keep it relatively subtle is a big challenge - but when it works out in the end, it’s very gratifying (albeit not always worth the headache and expense).
Anyway - an older G looks very bland these days... when they first came out they were pretty hot - but now they are very bland and boring... the 2nd gen sedan is much more appealing... so you have to do something to keep it fresh.
I toyed with the idea of selling and getting something else (several times)... but for whatever reason, the hobby of modding this car is fun. But I really wish I had just sold and got an NSX or something - and slightly modded as track car. Oh well - too late now

I agree with OC, the 2nd gen is more appealing. With that said, it doesn't take much to get the 1st gen to look pretty modern and that's really the fun it all. What real gearhead want's to drive truely stock? Years ago when I was in my early 20s and had a 94 Z28, it use to bother me that the other guy was faster. It was a viciously expensive cycle of one-upping everyone whether it be in terms of power, looks, whatever. I finally calmed down and realized I don't give a crap about the other guy and I'm not trying to impress anyone. I have lots of car friends that are constantly buying mods or switching cars because they can never stay happy with one thing. It's always "what's next". They never give themselves time to enjoy what they have. Their whole life is wrapped up in thier cars. IMO, that's sad.
I've made the decision that I'll be keeping my G for a good long time even though I could afford something way more expensive and brand spanking new. I've had this car for 5 years and I've enjoyed every moment of it. Sure, it's not the fastest thing on the road, but it's still faster than 98% of the cars out there. My 7 y/0 G still turns heads so I know others must like what I've done as well and I'll admit it makes me happy to know that others share my opinion of the car. The car is like a good pair of jeans that keeps getting better and better. I'll continue to mod it here and there over and make it a nice and comfy 13-second sporty sedan that can hold it's own on the strip and auto-x. I'll then use the money I save to pick up a lightly used Elise in the next 2 years and that will become my track and weekend toy.
