Intermittent A/C Problem..Need Help
I have a late 2003 G35 sedan with 28k miles on it. Babied it since day one. I have had it without any problems (except for the minor, annoying periodic downshift of the trans when cruising around 40-45 mph) since I bought it new.
The other day the car started as normal and I drove it for 1 or 2 miles before I noticed that the air in the cabin was humid (I live in Florida - its always humid outside, but not in the car with the AC on). Although the AC was blowing and it seemed cold (although not the usual ice cold feel), it appears that the AC stopped cooling. About 15 minutes later it started to cool again. I checked the belt and it seems tight and there does not appear to be any debris blocking the condenser.
Today, I took off to run some errands and the AC came on as usual, but within 5 minutes it wasn't blowing cold. I turned off the AC and did my errands without using it. About an hour later as I was finishing the last task, I turned the AC back on and voila, it was working again.
The dealer wants to charge me $125 for diagnosing the problem. Before I spend that money I was hoping to see if any one else had a similar problem and found out was the cause and needed repair. I would like to go there with some knowledge before I am told the repair going to cost $$$$$.
Thanks,
Andrew

man you should just replace the climate control, this was a big problem with most of the 2003 models such as mine. I am in the process of ordering one from Ebay that is included in the double din kits sold for our car. This is what happened to mine.
My AC/Stereo stopped working all together. Turned out that infiniti put the Climate control and the Stereo on the same circuit bourd, dumb. The cheapest route is to replace both the stereo and the climate control.
