i got speeding ticket in Maryland
I sped too, and I went to court, im a college student, freshmen. The police was like do you accept the fines, I'm like no and hes like ok I'm going to give you a brake. You have nothing lose really if you appeal. I dont know the rules in maryland but in MA we recently just added that if you go to court for any traffic appeal its 25 dollars, so I lost 25, but i appeal my 200 dollar ticket. SO good luck =D
Lol this is why you have a V1. Man some of those stretches of road out west... psh 120 is cruising speed.
LOL jaykay.
I'd pay it man. $530 is better than losing your license.

Thanks for comments!
How much did you speed?
If I sped like 20 miles over, and I would go to court,
but I sped 65 miles over, so I have no idea waht judge will do..
He wrote 120/55..
what is difference between must go to court and not necessery?

I used to live in DC and I had one ticket in Maryland..."Aggressive braking" umm yes...I hit the brakes hard and came to a "screeching stop." ...This prompted the officer to stop me, un-holster his sidearm, and begin a fellony stop. The judge for that incident also slapped an aggressive driving charge on the ticket before my lawyer got it mostly reduced. If you got the ONE nice cop to not give you aggressive driving or any other "tag line" to your ticket at THAT speed...PAY IT, count your blessings, and don't go back (unless you're a Terp, then you kind of have to)
Good luck man.
Good luck man.
I went 20 miles over. I went 50 on a 30, and I was still a JOL at that time so if I lost the appeal and had to pay for the ticket, I would of lost my license for 30 days. That is the reason I have got off, he said that if I went 30 miles over, I would of paid and been screwed
well, then I should pay it.
The police who caught me was pretty good man.
He was very angry first, but I apologized and apologized,
I said 'I will never speed over speedlimit again' and he just smiled and said,
'that's what I want to hear'
anyway, he said my license is not gonna be suspended,
I don't want to bet my driver's license for reducing penalty.

120 is a little ridiculous, and if you think the $500 fine is bad, then wait till you see your insurance premiums for the next 5 years. I bet you it will easily cost you upwards of $2000 for this(in the long run), hopefully, brief stint in stupidity.

Yeah I got pulled over doing 110MPH in a 65 on I-10 a couple years ago in my S2000 and there wasn't even anybody on the interstate, it was 3am and he wrote me a wreckless driving ticket and changing lanes with no turn signal fortunately I got them both taken care of so trust me man just PAY THE FINE.
I've gone even faster than that racing a BMW late on a sunday night on the parkway, luckily I didn't get caught, my worse ticket was 85 on a 55 and it was 350 bucks and 4 points
lol it's weird how the thread just starting transforming into a friendlier atmosphere. before everyone was bashing the poor guy for his grammers and doing 120, now we start hearing all the speeding story and everythings cools down. I've done 120 short burst plenty of times. You're just bad luck if you're caught. But 120 in middium traffic or heavier is then just stupid. I''d say pay the ticket, then save up and get a V1 like someone said earlier and THEN do 120>
I used to live in Maryland.. I got busted for speeding so many times. I had at least 7 points and over $2000 in fines. And yea... I was going 110 mph down 270 and got a $523 ticket. It was actually my first ticket. And unfortunately they wouldn't let me off. I think it was 4 points.
Thankfully the points went away. But that was back when I was 18.

It should go like this..
I was speeding, doing 120 MPH on route 29.
it's a 55 MPH zone.
Fortunately, it wasn't classified as reckless driving..(i thank the police)
But i need to pay $530, it's a pretty large amount of money for me to pay as i am a college student.
Some people recommended for me to plead guilty in court.
I heard that in Maryland (Howard county), if it is your first time and you're under the age of 21 they give you a break. Is it true?
I was wondering.. what if the judge aggravates the penalty.
I'm worried if the judge adds reckless driving and more penalties..
Can it get worse if I go to court?

[/QUOTE]aww u beat me to it.
In most states, if you go to court, you will have court fees ($50-$100) in addition to the fine if you fight the ticket in court. It is possible you could admit to the violation and ask the judge to lower the speed and base the fine on that speed. However, unless you know the judge is lenient it is not worth the risk. If you have not been to traffic school, see if that is an option.
I wanna know how a cop stopped you. By the time those big Fords get up and steaming at their maximum velocity of 130 to catch you, doing 120, you'd be long gone.
Was he stationary or did you blow up on him?
