I would try to go to court and get Probation Before Judgement if you have NO prior speeding tickets.

But 120 on 29. You dumb as hell.
wait, i never got any other speeding ticket before.
Is 'probation before judgement' different with 'contesting to judge'?
No risk to get extra penalty?

btw i was doing 120MPH on 55MPH zone not 29MPH zone

I don't think this is too far off point... Did you know the cruise won't set over 90 something? My old Trans-Am didn't have that problem

I would have to look this up, if it's true then VA is just absolutely stupid. CO has 75MPH speed limits and TX has 80. So 81 in VA is reckless driving and 81 in TX is completely ignored... for that matter 81 in a 70 on I-10, I-75, I-4, I-85, and quite a number of other places is almost always ignored as well!
The posted speed limit on I-75 through Atlanta is 45, but if you're driving less than 75 you will be run over! I swear the only reason they don't change it is so that when they pull someone for doing 90 they can write them up for double the posted speed, take their license, or whatever else they feel like, instead of just a 20 over ticket.

i hate that it stops @ 90. its really annoying when i drive down to florida in the wee hours of the morning. i like to crusie at around 95mph on i-95. triple digits is high. my v1 does the sniffing work. i would love to get pulled over and say

"but officer the sign says 95 and thats what im doing!"

how fast do you think he'd write me a ticket? haha!

Read an article in Car&Driver about a guy doing 135 in NM in a GTO if I remember correctly. They clocked him with a plane. When they pulled him the trooper offered to write it for a lower speed, but the guy insisted on 135 just to prove it
Of course, this was in the days when speeding tickets didn't cost an arm, leg, and firstborn child.
In the article he said he still has the ticket in his desk

120 isnt anything crazy it takes the car about 20 seconds to get up there and about 5 seconds to slow down to 50 im sure he wasnt doing 120 on a side street.

Unlucky?!?!? I'd you should be very lucky that you didn't wreck or kill someone this time, or even next time.

I drive on 29 every weekday (to and from work), I've never seen anyone do above 80 on that stretch (aside from motorcycles, sometimes I feel like blocking them just to make them realize how dangerous they are... motorcycle safety, what a joke!).

anyhow, I didn't read through all of the responses, but for those of you that have never been to traffic court: if you go, and YOUR cop does not show up, plead NOT Guilty. the judge will not see any evidence against you, and you will be free to go.

however, taking that chance runs a high risk. if he does show, and even if you plead "guilty" or "no contest", the judge could (and probably should) throw the book at you (along with the bench, balif, etc.). and your license would probably be revoked.

thus, as many others have mentioned here, pay your $530 fine, and thank your lucky stars that is all.

don't let me catch you speeding on my road again....G or no G, that's just stupid.

"sometimes I feel like blocking them just to make them realize how dangerous they are" This would be more dangerous than the guy doing 80.

I dont think people seem to realize how motorcycles just kinda go that fast. Have you ever ridden one? The thing itself is ok at 85 90. Its the cars around you that you need to keep an eye on.

75-80 on a bike is nothing.

^+1 If a motorcycle being truly reckless, he'll get what's coming to him. Save that blocking instinct for the next time there's a traffic jam and you have those few jerks who forsake the rules of social behavior, and pass hundreds of cars on the shoulder. Better yet, just shoot them, they can always be used for:
