Quick 5AT question about tiptronic???

I have searched for about an hour now and could not get my answer, so I started a new thread....
03 Sedan 5AT

When I use the tiptronic (which I hate, should've gotten a 6mt but stupid women don't drive manual), and let's say I am on 4th, and I want to stay there, but when flooring the gas pedal, it switches to 3rd, or even 2nd, and the indicator on the dash says 4.
Which is really weird, what's the point of tiptronic if it automatically changes gears when you floor it?

My brother has a Chrysler 300m and if he's on let say 3rd, whether you floor it or not, it stays on 3rd, I want my G to do that, is there a way?

Thanks

hmm, lol my 05 does not downshift or anything.

My moms Audi will downshift if you push the button on the gas pedal when its all the way down.

But our cars dont have this button.

My dads Lexus will shift up and down regardless.

Thats strange, I've never experienced that. When I'm in a particular gear in manumatic and floor it, it stays in that gear till I shift.

i believe the 03-04 MM is more of a top gear selector and will auto downshift, just not auto upshift. The 05+ will stay in whatever gear you are in, only time it automatically downshifts is when you slow down or are in 5th and you switch to MM it will downshift into 4th.

Im sorry.. im not a woman.. but i know several very good women drivers.. some that would out drive me.. and if they're so stupid that they cant drive stick, what does it make you since you cant figure out what the hell is wrong with your tiptronic.. anyways my input is the same as others.. our cars dont shift up automatically when in MM, but they will shift down if your going to slow.. my 06 never down shifted on me when i was in MM and floored it.. idk about the 03..

I am really sorry, I guess I was thinking out loud, is just that all the women I hang out with hate manual, and it took me a clutch on my older car, and my gf still hates it, and doesn't know how to drive it well......so I had to buy an AT....again very sorry for my inconsiderate comment......

Back to the issue, this totally sucks then, so there is nothing I can do? a reprogramming of the ECU or something....?

I've had 05 and 06 5AT rentals and I've gotten them to automatically downshift if I floored it at 50mph in 5th in MM.

For the 03, yes, that is the way the 03s operate and I actually prefer it. Why? Because I simply hit the shifter over to MM and can drive it like a normal auto. When I want to downshift, I manually do it via my paddle shifters. When I come to a stop and then accelerate, I can either let the car shift thru the gears or I can tap the paddle 3 times and manually go thru the gears myself. I When I mash the gas in MM, I'm almost always in the correct gear for acceleration so the tranny isn't going to downshift. I really have no problems with this setup, even when autoxing.

I don't know what all the shock is about. The 03/04 sedan tranny is still fully manual when you want it to be.
