GI: G35x Aluminum Undertray

I am trying to see if there is enough of a demand for an 04-06 G35x aluminum undertray to replace the stock plastic one. It would be made of high quality material and have a door for easy access to change the oil/filter. Here is some info and pics of the product.

Pics, Info and Price

DIY Undertray Install and Review

I met up with Spddracer/CuztomPartZ so he could do a test fit of his 350z/G35c undertray on my 05 G35x and there is enough of a difference due to the Oil filter placement that it would need a reworking. It is costly to redesign the piece just for one specific model b.c of the time involved and the only way it will be done is if enough G35x owners are interested in buying the finished product. I believe that it was mentioned it would take 15-20 people minimum to get the ball rolling.

Now here is what I need to know. If CuztomPartZ would make an aluminum undertray for our cars would you buy one? The price would most likely be in the same range as the 350z piece and it would be available in black PC as well.

Please add your name to the list if you would like one.

Can you custom fit 03 g35 sedan? Also, why aluminum? Why not a durable synthetic material and is bendable back to its original shape during impact?

I would but I am too low on my coils and that undertray would be history.

It looks nice, but to be honest, for $300, i just can't justify the cost.

I prefer the plastic shield anyway. I would want some give in the rare case i do scrape on anything.

i think i'll pick up some sheet metal and cut and bend them myself. $300 for just a bent piece of sheet metal and holes drilled in?

I'm on the same boat.

I'm low on coils now. I bottom out every now and then and would love to have a metal plate to protect things like my oil pan. Or just to save time VS removing the whole sheild. But $300 is a lot of money...

I understand what you guys are saying and I can clarify a few things.

For those of you who do your own oil changes it will be less of a PITA b.c you will not have to remove the whole thing anymore.

For those of you who are worried about scraping b.c you are low, this piece is actually designed to be tighter to the car then the stock plastic one and offers more protection. It is a 2 piece design so that if you do happen to hit something you can replace part of it instead of needing to replace the whole thing.

The stock plastic ones eventually get brittle and lose their mounting tabs and or crack and fall off. The aluminum undertray will not do so.

I do believe that the non X sedans can use the shield that he already has available. Only the X undertray would need to be redesigned b.c of the location of the rear tray mounting location and the oil filter location.

I see that price is a big issue with all of you and I can see why you feel that way. Since it would be X specific you guys are the customer base and create the demand. I can see if he would be willing to use something more cost effective if it would sell more of them.

Not really after you figure in the cost of design, Laser time, Bending operations, Punch time, CAD time and it goes on and on. Not as simple as everyone seems to think.

This is expensive

That is not expensive at all for what you get. The ARC one is more than twice that!
