Okay, got hold of a stronger magnet today, and it does attach to that area, so something in there is steel. I don't know how they could possibly repair something like that without replacing the entire hood, good luck with it! I would be careful doing any oil treatment, or any rust treatment, it could void the corrosion warranty!

I always park in a closed garage at home, and at work whenever possible. I live in the midwest, and the problem could be attributed to the salt used during the winter. I wash and dry my G weekly when it is warm. In the winter I hand wash at least twice a month, but weekly I take it through a brushless powerwasher.

I've emailed my pics to my dealer, along with a link to this thread. He replied yesterday and is following up for me. As soon as I hear anything I'll post something.
