automatics...
Damn. The yellow one's a beast too, he would of beat him if he would of launched at the same time
I just want to add that I've owned my auto G for nearly 5 years now and I still look forward to driving it every time. I am 95% happy with the automatic in this car. My biggest complaints are:
1) Manumatic nanny on the 1-2 shift above 5000rpms. I can feel the torque management dumbing down the power momentarily when it enters 2nd gear. In automatic mode, there's no TM. I don't know why Nissan choose to do this on a manual WOT 1-2 shift.
2) The TCM sometimes second guesses my 4 to 2 downshift request (usually 35-40mph) if I'm on the brakes hard and/or the steering wheel is turned slightly. Obviously the VDC and TCM are talking too much and think I'm requesting a dangerous downshift. The fix is just to tap the paddle one more time or request the shift before I go heavy on the brakes.
If I would have gotten the 6MT, I'm sure I would have grown tired of it years ago. The 6MT Gs I've driven felt exactly like my old 5MT 96 Maxima and that grew tiring after 6 years. Traffic isn't the issue, it's the refinement.....errrr....lack of. I don't know why it's so hard for Nissan to source a quality manual tranny. Maybe they should steal some Honda or BMW engineers so that they can develop the rifle-bolt action, buttery smooth non-vibrating tranny the G/Z deserves. I also know that if I drove the 6MT G like I did my Maxima, I would have been through at least 3 clutches by now. My Maxima was still on the OEM clutch when I sold it with 117K miles and 250+ 1/4 mile passes including LOTS of 4500-5500rpm clutch slip launches some of which were on drag radials and hundreds of full throttle 7000rpm speed shifts. I know for a fact that the G/Z clutch can't take that type of abuse for even 10K miles. Obviously Nissan choose to make the clutch the weak link in the drivetrain.
I absolutely love driving true manuals and my upcoming fun car (S2000) will be a manual. However, I'm not that ignorant to ignore the fact that most autos in performance focused cars will perform as good as their manual counterparts. Examples:
911 TT autos
Corvette/F-Body autos
05+ Stang GT autos
G8 GT/GXP
G/Z, all generations
BMW 3/5 series 6ATs

A speeding ticket is one thing, jail time for illegal gambling is another. No matter where you gamble, if it's not in a casino or totally licensed. Illegal.
Why don't you scan us some of your glorious time slips and show us just how fast your car goes.
You're making yourself look like a jack ***., taking shots at Davidac for things said in other threads. Why don't we talk about your debt?
BTW, just reading through some ****. Isn't your car AT?

What the hell were you going to race me with big guy? Looks like I'm the one who owns a manual car here...

Aisin/Warner makes it. It's similar to the Aisin 6MT found in the new CTS and Camaro. The torque rating is 345 ft/lbs. Nissan makes the automatics by way of their company JATCO.

He's already mentioned his G is an auto. Post #60.
His wager said if he got his hands on a manual G not specifically his G.
I'd say you're a differential swap from being faster. The 6 speeds on the manual won't really come into play that much as both should be tripping the light at the end of 3rd? Add a valve body mod and you're golden.
Of course this whole thing is silly as this "test" doesn't account for mods or driver skill.

I'm not sure why Jeff thinks both make it through in 3rd... all MTs I know finish in 4th.
