Yes, hard to explain, but the drum is part of the actual disk rotor. It's pretty common for such a setup. You'll see the shoes as soon as you pull the rotor off.
The shoes push on the rotor, which acts as a drum

Here. I did a quick Google image search...
Your back rotors will look more like this (not the exact ones, but you get the point)
The parking brake shoes bite on the inside of the "drum" part of the rotor and the brake calipers bite on the regular outside part of the rotor.
Just look at this picture and the one above and picture how they would go together.

I want to see a picture of a new rotor turned upside down so I can see the drum inside of the rotor.

I have an 05 x also (about 37k miles) and about 2 months ago I had to have the rear caliper and brake hose replaced. My advice would be to replace the pads only and if you find the pads wear in a unusually short span of time (mine lasted about 2mo/4k miles) then you will know the problem is in the caliper.
Sure you will be out a set of pads and some gas but then you wont have to spend the money for the diagnostic fee and unnecessary caliper replacement. Also, run your hand down the rubber hose that leads into the caliper; if you notice a bulge that would be a sure sign of a problem in the caliper (and hose).
