I am curious why many owners specify their car as 03.5. Is there a difference between 03 and 03.5? I don't think much has changed since introduction of the G35 except 04 has tire pressure warning. The only time I heard cars being referred as a .5 model is when VW completely redesigned their Passat and launched it as a 2001.5

 

The trunk lid is a dead giveaway. The '03s have a external trunk button on the trunk enclosed in a square with a small INFINITI. '03.5s do not have this trunk button, and INFINITI stretches the entire width of the trunk.

Certain features also come standard on '03.5s: HID headlights, etc. Also, on '03.5s, the Infiniti logo is stitched into the driver and passenger seats as opposed to an impression ('03s).

There are other differences, but that's all I can think of at the moment.

The biggest difference is the trunk. Also the '03.5 has a power socket on the passenger side footwell.

Other small differences include a shiney chrome look to the trim pieces on the dash buttons as opposed to a matt finish on the 03 (opposite on the clock hands), and later 03.5s got thicker clock hands.

Probably missed a few things as well. A few thought that the 03.5 was slightly "de-tuned", but I don't think that rumour was true.

03.5 changes included the addition of a 6MT. BTW I was looking at 01 and 01.5 Passats and I would hardly call that a complete redesign.

I thought the reclining rear seats were always available and were part of the premium package. I remember test driving a very early '03 back in late '02 that had reclining rear seats.

Yeah reclining rear seats were part of the premium pkg. for 03. Mine had them.

04.5 G35 Coupe DG/G/5AT/Prem/Aero/Performance Tire and Wheel

 

The passat was supposedly refined in 1000 different areas between the 01 and 01.5. It still sucked (i had a lemon). THere were some nice differences including 20 hp for either motor and refined shape in front (more rake) tons of chrome and the same interior for the most part. It was 70% more rigid or something too.

Great driving 5 speed 6 cylinder for a family car. Too bad it sucked and lived for the dealership.
