About to purchase '03 with pics

49,000 Miles on the car, one owner. 6MT. Black on Black. For 12,800

I test drove the vehicle a couple times and I love it. It's from a dealer here in Houston, Texas. They got the vehicle through an auction from Fort Lauderdale, FL.

I'm scared to purchase a 2nd hand vehicle for this amount of money. It's a great deal and if I don't jump on it TODAY. It'll be gone.

The dealer won't let me open up the hood to check the 6th cylinder oil pooling issue. I would have to put down $500.00 and then take it to a mechanic.

I looked at the oil and they must have just changed it as it was clean and smelt good. The Air filter was a little brown, is that normal on g35's? I thought Air filters are always white? If the Air filter is dirty would that mean the original owner didnt take care of the car well?

Please help me make a decision fast!

Holy cow! You NEVER see an 03 with this low of mileage... let alone a 6MT!! That car is everything I wish mine was... lower miles, manual, and black interior.

DO IT.

The price isn't that bad at all... but keep in mind, that low of miles means theres been no 60k miles maintenance or clutch replacement most likely :-/
^^ actually... that is the exact KBB retail value for that car.

She looks beautiful!

I found an 04.5 with 35k miles, one owner last year, bought it

If you dont feel comfortable with the dealer, dont do it.

There are many many G35s out there.

If you want black with 6mt, then go for it.

The dealer probably doesnt want you to mess up the car, not that you would. But if you did, he'd have to pay to fix whatever you messed up.

do the deposit, get it inspected (as always). make sure you note that the deposit is "subject to mechanical inspection", and use a cheque - NOT CASH!.

it looks clean in the pics, but you need to know the mechanical condition. if it checks out, then go ahead!

don't worry about the air filter. that's a $20 DIY if it needs replacing. on a 7 yr old car that's no issue. the oil pooling issue is worth checking since it's a $1000+ fix (both sides).

BTW - the battery cover is missing in the last pic.

keep in mind that the oil in the spark plug is more of an issue on the rev up motors, 04 and 03 dont have these motors

The air filter is a $20 fix, no big deal.

Dont forget you most likely need to drain and fill tranny, differential and etc

maybe another $300 on fluids.

You're really not going to run into any INSANE mechanical issues with an Infiniti...as far as cost. Mostly the stuff can be solved from this forum and you can get it fixed for cheaper. I would jump allll over that my friend.. but that's because I love the 03 body style (not necessarily more than the 05-06)... but its a manual with low miles and black interior.

just my $0.02

:-)

I really like the whole black on black. The Black interior really makes this thing bad ***.

I've read on here and 6MT.net that the oil pooling happens on the non revups (03)

It's a great car at a GREAT price. I took out a loan for 15k. for 5 years at 4.25% APR
The tires look a little used, most likely STOCK tires. So I would have to shell out an additional 400-500 on tires. Also, Teh mentioned a 60k Maintenance. What does that inlcude.

nope. oil consumption is a problem with rev-up 05/06. this means engine replacement. oil pooling can be found in 03/04. i had it both sides - fixed under warranty with new valve covers.

Im assuming it's the sports model solely from the wheels. It's also an 03.5 since it doesn't have the doggy trunk. This is a good catch. I hope the oil pooling isn't a big deal and encourage anyone to fill this guy in on any info regarding that. OP - Might want to do some research on the forums. That's a great deal considering it's from a dealer...

AZT.

I'm sorry. Its from texasdirectauto.com
Not an Infiniti dealer.

and thanks for clearing up what the .5 meant. I had no clue why everyone was posting their 03.5s.
