Foggy Hazy Headlight Dilema

Hi Everyone. New to this great forum.

Just got a 03 G35 Sedan but it came with foggy/hazy headlights.
I’ve never seen anything like it.

I buff headlights all the time and I’m pretty good at it too.

I use 1500 then 2000 sand paper and 3m rubbing compound with a polisher and they come out great.
I did this on those headlights and they look the same. They just feel smoother of course.

Then I went over them with Meguiars Plastix by hand (the one with the picture of the G35) and got the same results.

Here are the pictures… They are very smooth on the exterior as if they were just buffed and cleaned.

Some say that it’s not possible for them to fog on the inside some say that they do.

Should I take them apart to use the Meguiars on the inside of the lens?
Is there anyone that has gone through the trouble of taking them apart using the Meguiars on the inside and has lived to tell the story?

Don't waste your time. The buffing etc. are only temp fixes until the lens oxidizes again. You can purchase clear vynl overlays as a means of a more permanent solution. This is a common problem on 03's. I just bought a pair of JDM Black Headlights off ebay for $142 because of tired of the hazing and just recently the moisture build up. They sell the regular replacement halogen headlight on ebay too, but they are around $200.

ALSO, there has been a post about someone who tried to buff the inside and ruined the lense, so beware!! Some responded that there is a layer on the interior of the lens that doesn't agree with any buffing agents.

Again, I would just purchase new headlights on ebay.

you could sand down both sides and then have them clear coated...

+1 on the ebay black housing headlights, don't waste ur time trying to fix it, $180 can get you clear as day lenses with headlights that are already customized and the fit and finish is great

MyG's ride is pretty damn sick. You said you put on the eBay headlights? Did you put your OEM ballasts in the new headlight assembly?

The aftermarket headlights for our cars only come in halogen. You would have to install an aftermarket HID kit. HID conversion kits are annoying though since halogen headlamps aren't made for xenon light ouput as they do not have the required cutoff. Basically, you will have glare like crazy, but until they come out with projectors you have to deal with it. Or other people on the road have to deal with it haha.
