Side Marker Blinker mod

Did you do it from the engine bay or jack up the car and removed the wheel?

Neither. I just turned the wheel hard to the opposite extreme, loosened the front part of the fender plastic, and did it all with the car on the ground. Sure, it would have been easier to get access with the wheel removed, but that step requires another set of effort.

Me too. I wasn't up for removing the wheels, so I did the same as Noremac. The working space was a little tight and it was a bit difficult to get the wire taps in place, but it worked out OK.

Re: Side Marker Blinker mod
I've done two cars, one with the wheel off and the other with the wheel on.
the wheel off is much smoother and easier since you have more room to work with. I did one side at a time, so just used the supplied car jack to get the car up. the extra space allowed me to re-tape all the wires and make it look like a clean install. Also gave me the opportunity to check my front brake pads and give my wheel a better cleaning.
The other car had aftermarket wheels I could not remove (no thin walled 7/8" socket), so I had no choice.
I recommend the wheel off method.

Yep that's the right wire.
I did mine with the wheels off & painted the calipers at the same time.
This mod is great. It should come this way from the factory.
I like the added feature that my marker flashes when I lock the car now (horn disabled).

If you're going to take the wheels off, please use jack stands and wheel chocks!!! I would never get under the car and rotors with only the emergency jack holding it.

Noremac
?????
Did you really mean to reply to me.
I didn't say anything about getting under a car with an emerg jack!

Re: Side Marker Blinker mod
noremac....thanks for the heads up. all my other work I do with jack stands.
tapping into the wires takes just about as much time as changing a flat, and you wouldn't use jack stands to change a flat.

No. Sorry. I just hit reply on the last message listed.
I didn't mean to preach.
But my neighbor two doors down is lucky to only have a nasty permanent scar on his forearm as testimony to Murphy's law when his car wobbled off the emergency jack and rotor met flesh. YMMV.

Re: Side Marker Blinker mod
I did it from the engine bay. I removed the intake box's resonator while I was at it since you need to take the airbox out to get to the area.
The passenger side is easier and I just stuck the wire extension through the hole from the side marker area into the engine bay, grabbed the wire and cut it to the length I needed.
No need to remove the wheels or the wheel liner. If you want to change your intake, do this mod along with it.

Re: Side Marker Blinker mod
With a minor wiring change the side marker lights can be made to work with your turn signals.
I think this a great saftey enhancement, the car in the next lane will now see your signal.
