My car wont fill up with gas!

The other day I went to the gas pump and my car would only fill 12 gallons and the car was completely empty. This has happened before and usually my car will take about 17 gallons to fill. The gas meter only went to ~ 3/4. Is my gas gauge broken or what?
Just would like some suggestions as to what it could be before the dealer tries and sells me on some bull**** parts

There is a TSB for this. I'll post up the number if I can find it.

TSB ITB08-041a. Look it up on www.infinitihelp.com, print it out and take it into your dealer.

I had the same problem, follow OKState's instructions and you shouldn't have any issues.

Thank you for prompt response and the solution.
Should have searched, but I didn't think anyone would have come across such an odd issue.

Conclusion to the story; Infiniti of Tampa couldn't verify the issue because the car filled up with gas. Nothing got fixed. Now when my car gets hot, I can't get gas.

i heard you need less than 1/4 full for them to do anything with the gas tank. i got this problem, and went to my local Infiniti. they claimed to have fix it a day later, so i went to get gas straight from the dealer. turns out that nothing was fixed, and it seemed worse than before?

I guess just keep taking it in until they 'verify' it. Don't really know what else you can do unless you want to fix it yourself.

your getting pressure in the tank and it's causing the venture (sp) vent in the nozzle of the gas pump to shut off as it thinks the car is full. FIll up before your car gets to low on gas might help, some times if you take the nozzle out of the fill spout and angle it down it resets the mech in the nozzle to start flow again - also only putting the nozzel 50% into the fill spout works also.

You guys can do it by yourselves if you have very basic mechanical ability.
