Auto entry/exit system

I just bought a used 2006 g35x with premium package and navi.

I figured out how to use all of the features, but there's something puzzling me.

the entry/exit system

my driver side seat has the cancel/auto switch, but it does nothing when set to auto.

isn't my seat supposed to move back and steering wheel up when i turn off car?

how do i set this thing?

the owner's manual does not explain it good enough

Hard to explain it any better than the manual. Just go step-by-step with it. It's fine.

^ This. I turned it off on mine and there are instructions in the manual about how to re-engage it.

I think you have to hold the number for like 3 seconds or something, or maybe it was hold the auto button for 5 seconds until the light flashed... I'd have to look it up in the manual.
Also the steering wheel and seat wont move until you open the door.

I turned mine off to prevent stripping the plastic gear.

Sure it's a cool feature, but using it all the time will lead to the inevitable "My seat gear stripped out and the dealer wants $800 for a new seat track!" post.

Seem to get one every couple of weeks.

I know this came up right when I got my car, so i thought I would link to the thread where we talked about it.

https://g35driver.com/forums/g35-sed...-question.html

Good luck....

OK, an excerpt:

. With the car off, I adjusted the seat + steering wheel position to my liking
2. Turn ignition to "ON" position
3. Press the "SET" button and then the "1" button for one full second.

I did the same thing for the other position only this one was for someone else.

I also made sure that the switch is left at "AUTO".

I pulled out my quick reference guide, as I plan to also do this today.

The only differences I see from what you did were:

Turn the ignition switch to on before you adjust the seat and make sure it is set to auto before you program it.

When you push set, the 1 and 2 should light up.

Within 5 seconds push and hold the 1 or 2 for 1 second.

Afterwards, push the unlock button on your intelligent key to associate it with that key. the memory button chosen should blink about 10 times.

Yah, Mustang. It comes in real handy when your wife gets in and totally screws up the settings it took you a week to get just right.

That's what I'm worried about. Has anyone found a way to prevent this from happening? Maybe lubricating the tracks regularly?

I blame you for this!!!!!

It was a beautiful, beautiful thing. You wrote this and 8 days later I am not having a problem.

I am very bummed.

Well, you can always have a machinist make up a new gear out of steel.

Honestly, if someone were to make a batch machining run of these, they would sell every one. I thought about modeling the gear up, sendint the drawing out for quote, and seeing if I could get a batch of 100 or so made up. Prob sell every one.

I still think this is a great idea and would definitely be in for buying one.
