04 cluster had a stroke, but got better?

Drove home from work today and got stuck at the LONG intersection just outside from my shop. I'm sitting in the left turn lane and think to myself, "I usually have my turn signal on." So I go to turn it on, only to find that the stalk is already down.

I can see that the turn is blinking through the reflection of the car in front of me, but there's no blinking arrow in the cluster or 'clicking.'

I notice that the tachometer, speedometer, odometer, trip odo, and coolant temp gauges are all non-functional. The odo/trip odo still gives me a readout, but it doesn't advance, so I got 30 miles on my car that haven't registered.

I pull over again, turn the car off for a few minutes, turn it on and VOILA, it's working again. However, I now have a SES light.

Anyone know what would've caused this?

Plan on it, but the local Autojoke was closed by the time I got home. I'll have to hit them up tomorrow.

sounds like an ECU problems alot of Dodge trucks have.

Usually either a loose ground on the ECU, or more likely the ECU itself

I wasn't joking about hitting the dash. Loose wires in the dash seem to be a Nissan thing: http://www.nfspmotorsports.com/forum....php?topic=241

Oh man, I love that thread. I didn't know Lucas made Nissan's electrical components.

It actually cost me nothing.

The cluster started working after I turned it off and on again. I treated the SES as I would for a 'loose gas cap' SES. The light was gone in 2 days.

Cost to fix? $0. But I think I did take a month or two of my life off from worrying about what would've caused it.
