led attachment

The middle two leds on mine are out. I was able to solder one replacement on very poorly and am having a lot of difficulty getting the other to stick. Anyone have any ideas for led attachment? Soldering isn't working too well. I don't think it works well for this type of connection and the original leds look like they were punched on.

Anyone got any tips for attaching an led to the metal boards?

my 3rd light is very DIM compared to my LED tails. I never bothered to noticed untill i got tints. I have 20% in the rear and it looks to be as dark as wannabe's picture but the LED is NOT even close to being that bright.

I noticed that solder didn't stick too well to that metal either. Are there leads on the LEDs? If so, maybe you can punch a small hole in the metal, thread the leads through and bend them over before adding solder.

led attachment

I ended up desoldering both middle leds, bending the pins flat, and using a glue gun to attach them while keeping the circuit going with 4 aa batteries so I could tell if the connection was good.

I ended up using these leds. They are definitely not the same as the original and not exactly the same color but they are listed for automotive use and are very close. Not sure where to find a better match. At least it works.

Turtle, i have no tint over my third brake light. Might be why it looks brighter.

why would you have it that way... unless you asked for that, that is a LAZY tinter.

if someone tinted it like that i would just not pay him. that looks horrible. IMO

How is modifying the tint to make the brake light more visible being lazy? If anything, it is lazy to not do it since it would technically be less work.

Here I had to ask for the tinter to tint over my brake light. The default is for them to cut around it since the law doesn't allow tint over brake lights.

Funny thing is I had him put on illegal tint anyway.

I agree it looks much better tinted over but is a little dimmer in the day.

i think most tinter's dont do it because the 3rd brake light often times require some work to pull off so they can tint the whole glass. The guys who do it because of that is lazy. When i got my car tint i made sure they did it.

Yea it might be illegal but like mustang stated, the tints in some cases are just as illegal.

Cutting around something because you dont wanna remove it is lazy and to me it looks horrible when i see cars with that little slot open.

Mine is that way too. It was on there when I got the car... I couldn't care less.

it is what it is, if i bought a car with it like that i'm not paying a $100 to get it retinted but it would be something to make me pass up the car, I would it put it up with there with a door ding or so.

back on topic, my 3rd light is actually out. i reversed up into a glass door today and saw it completely out. Not sure what i want to do at this point..
