Infiniti should have a recall for these 03-04 brake lights... there are so many that are out that I see... sigh.

Have you tried to take it out and solder in a new diode? Mine seems to be working fine since I did that. It had a few hiccups right after installing, but I think the connector may have just been loose.

Not yet, because right when I was about to do it, it started working and worked fine for two months. I back up to a window every day and constantly check.

This week....not working again.

Gotta take it out. Inspection sticker due this month.

Mine quoted over $300. I'm going to check around. It is a safety issue, anything to help others see when I'm stopping. But not immediate, since I still have normal brake lights.

The Intermittent problem is caused by the actual LED bar or some type of electrical issue?

what do you guys think of writing to Nissan and demanding a recall for this? there seems to be a lot of us with this problem. and if cops can pull you over for having a brake light out, i feel like its something that the company should replace. gimmmie your thoughts.

True, but one of the marketing points of LED lights is that they last much longer than halogen bulbs do...so it's "maintainence free"

I do see a LOT of cars with burned out LED's on the road....but the G35 3rd brake light seems to be the most common that I see....especially 03-04 Sedans.

Mine is out....again.

I really need to dig it out and replace that resistor

Your chances are pretty good....... once you prove a non-working 3rd brake killed somebody. Unless they're looking at a potential lawsuit, they probably won't care.

There have been times where not having a working brake light has almost gotten me rear ended. I do notice a lot more people come up on me and slam their brakes at the last second when it's out.

I can tell it's out because I can actually see a red "halo" in my tint when i step on the brakes when it's working.

When it's working people stay back more when i hit the brakes. When it's out, i feel in more danger, especially if my parking lights are on. They are so bright that i think people get used to them when behind me and don't react when i hit my brakes.

One of the reasons why i won't tint my brake lights....people are idiots

I'm not sure how you can determine that. I've never noticed any difference at all. Where do you live?

I can't really determine that. It's an assumption I make really.

I just feel when its out, people seems to react slower. I do a ton of highway driving, and a lot of my close calls in being rear ended happened when it was out.

Of course, plenty of people get rear ended with working brake lights.....so I could just be blowing smoke here
