I just lubed my brakes with some high temp caliper grease and so far it seems like the squeaking I was hearing when not braking is gone. Who knows how long it'll last though.
I have a new problem now. My steering wheel now has a shimmy to it once I hit around 65mph...which was not there the drive before I started the brake lubrication job.
All I did was take off the (front) wheels, take out the bottom caliper bolt, pivot the caliper, remove the pads, and lube all metal to metal contact points...like the piston-inboard pad, pad & shim, caliper-outboard pad, and the pad seats.
I did this to the front wheels only. Tried to do the rear wheels but my ratchet&socket wouldn't fit on the caliper bolt, grabbed a 14mm wrench and proceeded to strip the bolt , so I left that wheel (rear left) alone. Moved over to the rear right, but as I was jacking the car up, those tabs started to bend so I just let the car done & said screw it.
What could I have done that caused this?
