I wouldnt do gold, I dont think it would look good if everything is the same colour. That is the conclusion I came to when I was considering pcing my rays red
hmmm... im going to see if its possible to get them polished!!Originally Posted by DVG
Black would be subtle, go for it if you want to only appeal to the trained eye. Somewhat of a sleeper look

I think chrome plating is more likely.

If you're going to do turqoise do the Project Mu shade

If you go with red, you can always get the limited edition red DPE caps

Red is a classic look and is overdone because it looks good. I get the whole be different opinion but sometimes it doesn't work out. Doing a different shade of red is a good option (which is what I think you are considering)
Oh and please (sorry Matt) DON'T paint the center caps turquoise

Yah the center cap idea was iffy, i can see that going bad, lol.
As for the calipers, if they're akebonos, they're aluminum, yes, and polishing could easily be done, this is a brilliant idea that i hope you pursue so we can all enjoy the results!!

Paint the center caps turquoise as well to tie it in
I think the gold looks great on the Desert platinum.
Honestly, I think Red is going to stand out, look out of place, I really, really think it will look aweful. You mentioned you were more comfortable with red because you think it would be more low key (rough quote) than turquoise, but I very, very strongly disagree.
The red will stand out like a sore thumb. At least Turquoise would probably suit the colour scheme.
I think the turquoise calipers will offset all the red and silver and tie in with the gold wheels nicely.Originally Posted by TunerMax

But I do agree not to overdo the turquoise by painting the center caps as well.Originally Posted by G35Papa

On the heels of MPG35's question, I have one I'm pining over. Do I wrap this in CF? I tried paint but the minor imperfections of the mould job show up hard, so it's either meticulously finish the moulding until it's perfect, or wrap it in some vinyl or CF.
Please disregard the areas that look scabby, that's just peeled off paint because I chipped it away for a final (if I wrap it) bondo coat.

Rough idea what it could look like using 3M Dinoc Look-a-like CF Vinyl

i think glazing it would be faster and easier since bondo is super duper hard to sand.... and plus the chips doesnt look deep enough to bondo.
