Mid-Pipe Delete on larger '05 muffler??

I've heard videos and read about the mid-pipe delete using a straight pipe, and it seems like rasp is the general consensus. But the only sedan's I've seen this done on are the 03-04's with smaller muffler and larger resonators. Since the 05-06 had a smaller resonator and larger muffler, I am wondering if the mid-pipe delete would produce a good sound. I used to run a Magnaflow straight through race muffler (pretty close to a straight pipe) on the mid and it sounded great, no rasp, I loved it, my favorite setup hands down. If this has been covered I apologize, but Im trying to maintain that stock sound and increase volume. HFC's are pricey but my main hangup on those is emissions, engine lights.. fitment.. blah blah and the same with test pipes. Im not into messing with the cats. Additionally I already have the HR Y, MD 5/16 Ztube, the usual suspects... So before this turns into a "how to make my car louder" thread, let me reiterate. Has anyone had experience with a resonator/middy delete using the larger 05-06 muffler?

Thanks

i have an 03 sedan with an 05 midpipe with resonator removed (straight pipe welded in) and a megan racing muffler. Sounds orgasmic. I've heard videos on youtube of resonator removed with 03 oem muffler and it sounded like ****. Not sure how it'd sound with oem 05 muffler. Get a megan muffler and remove your midpipe resonator and you'll be happy

^ doett! you'll be the leader and they'll be the follower. I got another megan cuz i bought it used for a great price. The one on the link i gave you is more subtle looking and looks better. Megan muffler+resonator removed sounds like a coupe but louder

Got a sound clip? How does this sound compared to HKS/cmp/HR-y?

^Nah sorry I don't have a video camera to record. I got an HR Y pipe as well but it sounded just as good with the old Y pipe. I've never heard the HKS in person so I wouldn't know

Better move your question into the sedan exhaust thread, just to keep things clean. Pretty much every exhaust setup available has been debated in there.

Stillen will give you more HP but also cost a lot more $. HKS muffler is way overpriced for no added power
