throttle body replaced, but SES on again - p0507
#31
Is there anyone in Southern California that could do this for me? I'll pay you.
I cleaned the throttle bodies, moved the butterflies... all w/o disconnecting the neg. terminal on the battery.
Result - My idle is surging from 2k back to 800 back to 2k and so forth.
I can't even reset the ecu... I'm doing something wrong.

What exactly did the dealer do? I cleaned my buddy's G and he is having the same problem( SES light with code P0507) We reset his ECU, it went away and then it came back. We reseted again with the ODB and it came back again. We never disconnected the throttle body and had the battery disconnected during the entire cleaning procedure. I have cleaned my throttle body multiple times and never had this issue. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

I've actually been in touch with the manufacturer of these units, Hitatchi, and have been trying to figure out what is causing a failure. Their engineers have told me so far that it is totally ok to move that throttle plate around. The main concerns seem to originate from removal of the special coating they apply - apparently SOME of the TB units don't pass tests if that coating is missing. Additionally, there is also concern about the type of cleaner used and its effect on the throttle shaft seals.

Yea I talked to the shop forman he said moving the butterfly valve should not screw anything up. But they told me that resetting the ecu and using the relearning procedures won't always work and that for 99bucks they'll hook it up and fix it. Prob bs jist to make money but I'm tired of shutting off the car and it forgetting what it just leaned. RKIM210 something that helped me pin point the timing. Instead of counting to 7 go to 7.5 or 8. Same with the 3secinds go to about 4 then push your pedel. A second late Seems to work everytime for me!

Thanks to ray1370 and altimaPR....after installing a new MAF I had these issues for a couple weeks. It seems as if starting the car within the 3 seconds of the SES staying on was the step that helped me- along with the car being fully warmed up. But today I finally got the idle good at 650 and the SES has remained off after 50+ miles driven and multiple restarts over a 12 hour period.

Happy to report that O4G35DPM's post did help me and I was successful at fixing my issue this morning.
After cleaning the TB last week the idle rpms were around 850-900 range and yesterday the CES light come on.
Did a reset on everything this morning and rpms are down to about 650 ..............
Did need to try the ECU reset a few times because timing is very critical for this.
thanks to all.
