There is an amp in the car that the Headunit is wired to. Your best bet is not buying the OEM bose head unit and getting a Double DIN kit. Much better sound quality and you won't have a crap Unit.

Also,

I do have a Bose HU. I replaced it because of error codes. When I replaced it the volume on the HU was bad. 0 to 15 no sound 15 to 31 not much. Put old HU back witch had a GREAT kick and volume. When I put it back it did the samething as the new used one. Poor volume. I was told 2006 did not have externail amp in trunk. I took everything out to check. NO AMP.
