General Questions on the G35 Sedan w/ 6-sp Manual

OK. I love this car but I there are a few things I can't seem to find out. Maybe you guys can help me with these basic questions. I did a search but came up half-empty.

1. What is the invoice price of the G35 Sedan 6-speed MT and it's options? I can't seem to find it at any of the car buying sites yet.

2. At Infinity.com, I used the "Build-your-Own" feature to price one. I really just want to add the rear spoiler, since the car comes with Leather and Sport as standard. But to do that I must select the Aero Package, which costs $550. This wouldn't be so bad, but then the site tells me that the "Sunroof" option is required with the "Aero Package". The "Sunroof" option costs $1000.00, and I don't even want it. Is there any way to just skip the Aero package and Sunroof package and just get a spoiler installed? if so, how much does a dealer usually charge for this stand-alone option? And is it the same exact spoiler as the one in the Aero Package, since I fear it will some aftermarket cheesy one...

3. For those of you who have purchased or already started contacting dealers about the G35 Sedan 6-Spd MT, how has the response been from dealers? I read a recent post from someone in CA saying they got $500 over invoice.. this is awesome. Can anyone else tell me how availability at dealers has been, and how willing are dealers willing to negotiate?

4. Finally, why hasn't the Sedan w/ Manual Transmission gotten much attention, either here on the boards or in mainstream auto magazines? It sounds to me like the manual tranny only improved on the original automatic version.

Listen, thanks in advance for the response. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to answer my questions about this beautiful vehicle.

First off, you can just have the dealer add the spoiler on for probably 300-400 dollars extra. I got my 6MT with Aero and Sunroof because that is what I wanted and I paid 1000 over invoice.

Also, my 6MT gets a lot of attention from the ladies as well as when I took it to the drag strip and ran a 14.1@99 BONE STOCK. When my club goes out racing, the 6MT has been seen walking a 300ZX TT from a roll as well as several other turbo and V8 cars.

The Aero Package consists of both the rear spoiler and some underbody diffusers. The spoiler and underbody parts can be bought through the parts dept. and bolted on after the sale. You'll also have to pay labor to have them installed, but it should still be cheaper than the sunroof that you don't want.

Note that if you add the spoiler on after the sale, you'll have two center brakelights.. one in the rear window, and the led strip on the spoiler. If the spoiler is factory installed, there's no center brake light in the rear window.

Hi, I'm the guy that just bought a 6mt sedan for $500 over invoice. I had them add on a areo kit to the car for $590. It is a $550(rear spoiler and underbody defusser) option from the factory. If you go to one of the infiniti parts discounters, you'll pay around $440 to buy on to install yourself. Considering what's involved in that install, I was glad to pay $150 for them to install it for me.

I've had my car since friday and I love it. Only thing I wish it had was the coupe's auto window cracking when you open and close doors.

The best way to buy one of these cars it to look at the dealers inventory online, find one you like and call that dealer and ask to speak to their internet salesmanager or fleet salesmanager. And tell him your wanting to know if they have the specific car you want in inventory (have the last 6 numbers of the vin handy). Once you know they have that car tell him you heard on this forum that dealers are selling the cars at $500 over invoice and that you are willing to purchase NOW for such a deal. Do not fall for any funny business, like "well on automatic's but the 6mt's are hot". Stick to your guns and be prepaired buy at another dealer, stick to your guns and get a fair deal. If you remember my original post, I did not have to even ask for $500 over invoice, it was OFFERED TO ME, and they knew full well the car was a 6mt.

The auto-window-crack thing on the Coupe is because the doors don't have a frame that goes around the window, so the window lowers and raises to prevent stress as the door is being opened and closed. The Sedan has a frame around the window, so this is not necessary.

Re: General Questions on the G35 Sedan w/ 6-sp Manual

I also managed to get a good deal on the 6MT. I wasn't really looking to buy, but the salesman said he had to move a car and would make me a great deal. So here's what I did.

First, most dealers don't like to talk about invoice pricing, and won't agree with any figures you come up with anyway. They like to add advertising fees and stuff like that to their invoice and won't readily negotiate on that price.

So, what I did was find the invoice price of the car I wanted. Try www.carsdirect.com. Then I figured out a reasonable interest rate, 4.9% was what I figured I could live with. Then I added $500, sales tax, subtracted off my down payment, and calculated a monthly payment from the final figure. This was the figure I used to negotiate with. They LOVE talking in terms of monthly payments. It ended up that I undercalculated tax a couple hundred (I used state not county), but managed to get the car for what I wanted anyway. The dealer did not want to lower the price of the car to invoice, so they ended up getting me a 3.4% interest rate. Bottom line is I didn't care how they worked out the numbers, I am paying exactly what I wanted (and can afford) for the car.

It took a while, but they finally caved and let me have it. They tried to make me feel guilty, saying they're not making a profit, yadda yadaa, but I don't. If they didn't want to sell the car they didn't have to. Once that was settled, my experience there has been great so far and I'm very pleased with my purchase.

I saw the invoce price yesterday. I can't remember the number exactly. MSRP for a 6MT is $29,100. Invoice is approximately $26,600.
