well when i took my car in for work to the dealer in my area they actually didnt wanna work on it cuz i had rear coils on... lol

i'm going in for an oil change and the steering wheel/door insert check from wear. I'm going to have to ask them about this clunking...except mine isn't as pronounced. The car drives fine, but when going over bumps I hear padded thuds...I'm not sure if it's normal or not but it happens all the time and it sounds like something might be loose.

I had the same noise and spent 1850 to fix it as follows:

New struts/strut mount/spring seats - this cures the clunking>
New swaybar endlinks - if your struts are old, your endlinks will be worn also.
compression rods - not sure if they make noise when bad but i could feel the unibody flex by my foot when hitting bumps.

after changing all this car handled like new...no more clunking, creaking, or chasis flex.

Guys with lowering springs, have you made sure that the spring rubber isolaters are in place and in good condition? If the isolater isn't there or is worn, the springs can make clunks and thuds, especially over rutted or slightly bumpy surfaces. What can happen is the springs can tap on each other and without the isolaters or split ones, it can make some annoying sounds.

UPDATE

so got back from the dealer, and well i couldnt be any happier leaving! amazed huh? :P

anyhow.. i went in there lowered... i was certain i was going to get told the noise is due to your struts or something having to do with me being lowered (since i got told this before) but this time was different. they actually checked the problem and you bet they found it! and i was covered under my extended warranty !!!!

the problem for me was the endlinks. so they were replaced and damn, my car seems very firm now.. bumps or little cracks on the roads seem to handle better, the swaybar seems more stiff and on point than before. im very happy with the outcome

hope everyone else figures out their problem. and if anyone is interested i got a front strut end mount for sale.

nice dude. I would love a quiet non-clunking front end right now. Got an appointment Saturday to have my sway bushings swapped and hope to report good news.

Are end links expensive? I am bone stock and I hear clunking from the passenger side, it's only on small bumps though, and it feels like it's continuous. It almost feels like something is loose but it's not so important, lol like some piece of plastic hitting something.....neway it's a guessing game but I was just wondering if the end links where hard to replace!
Also, the bushings for the LCA, is there a way to fill this with urethane same as some guys do for their motormounts?

Good luck to everyone with the clunking issue, and it looks like it's a G clunking month!

Endlinks are actually very easy to replace and if it's not the endlinks seems like your control arm bushings are going bad. For those u would need to buy the bushings and have a shop press them in.

And they are not expensive. Maybe like 50-60 bucks for the endlink pair

thanks, I will def. check into that, however I don't think it's the control arm bushing....I replaced the driver side when it was clunking, and it was a different clunk, i could be wrong tho!
