Brother's G35 starting problems!!

Well basically sometimes his car starts. When he does have it running and drives it the next day it will start. If he starts it and does not go anywhere it will sometimes not start and sometimes it will. It's just really random when it does start. Needed to be jumped once. The other day it did not start so he went in side. Came out today and it does. He does not leave anything on or connected in the car. My guess is the battery but I don't know. Wondering if anyone has had the same issue. It's a 2006 g35 sedan. Thanks guys!

Wrong forum.

This forum is for you to "Post questions, reviews, and other general info about the G's Nav, sound system, or satellite radio".

But battery sounds as likely to me as anything else, and if it's the original battery in an 06, it's about that time. The battery in my wife's went out over a year ago.

Oh my bad didn't know. Just assumed electronics. Yeah I don't know if the battery had been replaced before since he bought it used in 09. Thanks for the tip. If an admin could please maybe move the thread to the proper section for me. Thanks

Definitely sounds like the battery to me too. Mine went this past summer. I considered myself lucky that it lasted 6 years.

Yeah thats what I thought. He was telling me he read somewhere online that our cars have some issues with things not totally powering down when you shut off the car and what not. I was like what?? Ive never heard of anyone on here having that problem. Hes gunna run to auto zone when he gets time to get battery and alternator check and we will see then. Just wanted to make sure it was not something a lot of people have had happen if it was not the battery. Thanks guys!

Im also starting to have the same issue. Had the battery and alternator load tested and they are not the issue. Pulled the wires to the amp and it wasnt the problem either. I think it may have something to do with the car going into sleep mode. It seems only to not start after sitting a day or two with the car unlocked. Weird and a major PITA!

Moved to proper section. Sounds like the battery like others have said. Let us know how it checks out

Find a digital multimeter that can read DC amps. Remove a lead off the battery and hook meter up in series. Test for amps and see how much current draw there is with car off.

Possible tom have a dead short somewhere that drains the battery when the car is off. I've gone a week without starting my car and it cranks fast, if the car won't start after a couple days of sitting, it's a weak battery or an electrical drain

Ill try and get him to do that soon. Its just odd because its random. Wont start then 2 days later magically starts without doing anything. He has a non bose system also so no amp in the trunk. Pretty sure reg non bose amps are built into the headunit. Thanks for the help.

Sorry I did not specify. Car is dead as in does not crank or do anything. Lights are usually out but sometimes they are on and it clicks. Then magically 2 days later it starts right up like nothing was wrong.

same happened to me. Sometimes it starts sometimes not. Or it will struggle really hard to start. Definately the battery. I got mine for $100 buck at autozone, I think its a duralast yellow top battery with 3yr replacement warranty and 7yr trade in credit thingy towards a new one. It starts my G up soooooooo fast. Love it. Just make sure not to put water in the battery ( the old one) and have it spill over. Once you take the battery out, that water + battery acid will be sitting in the tray and will drip over your fenders...that means it will eat away at your fenders....thats what happend to me *pissed off*

Intermittent issues like that can also be a bad connection. How are the terminals? Nice and clean?

Usually symptoms of won't start one day, and then starts fine several hours later are bad or loose connections.

I had a car that would just be totally dead as in no lights, click or anything...interior light wouldn't even come on....then 20 mins later it would fire up no problem. Ended up replacing a battery cable on that car and it fixed the issue.

+1 on the cable for the won't start one minute and will the next issue. I also had to replace the battery cables on an older car I had as they were corroded internally. Took about an hour but I never had any problems with it after that.

Start problems

My car just recently started having a start problem maybe about a week ago?? Basically it only does it randomly. I'll start it and it will start fine. Or say I stop and sit for a little bit and try starting again and it struggles to start. Like it cranks and everything. But as it starting it feels like it's dying. So it cranks and then like hesitates to start. Could it be the battery? Or the starter? I know that my battery is crap. I bought the car used November 2013 and it's an 05. I bought the car and the battery looked horribly corroded and i had problems with the battery dying sometimes then I got it cleaned. Could the battery still be the problem??
