Agree 100%, I think it sounds like ****.

This is what I have and when I switched from the z mid to the 05 sedan mid, I could barely tell the difference. My goal was to reduce the drone on the HKS and I think it helped a little. I also have the HR Y-pipe fyi.

Is there any way to delete the resonator and prevent all the rasp? I love the way it sounds until you get on it. Stainless steel pipe from Y to Muffler? Or is it just overloading the stock can?

Seems that there are two reasonable options for midpipe replacement:

1) g35 coupe (what years would bolt on to an 04 sedan?)
2) g35 sedan (been told that 05/06 sounds better and is lighter)

Do any of you have an opinion?

Replacing the current resonator seems like the worst thing to do at the moment due to weight and cost. The mechanic offered a straight pipe (resonator delete i suppose its called) but I've seen some videos on youtube and it sounds terrible.

What about a Magnaflow resonator as a replacement?

So torn!
I have an 06 sedan mid-pipe that I will be taking off in the next few days, let me know if you decide.

But I like the stock muffler. I don't want it to be too loud, you have a Megan muffler right? How loud is it? Any clips?

^ yea a megan muffler, it's very loud when I get on it but when I'm cruising it sounds like a coupe just a bit louder. I don't have sound clips, I'm meeting up with my friend today I'll see if I can get one since he has a camera on his phone

Sounds really weird, but I'm guessing it's from whatever you're using to record the audio (plus it's windy). Got any better recording devices?

I'm going to do the magnaflow resonator in a week or two. its really light and it gives a nice deep tone and its relativle cheap. Just make sure you go to a good shop to get it welded in.
