Anyone know MIN rotor thickness for front rotors?

82k miles, need to do front brakes again for 2nd time.

Still have front rotors from the first brake job. They look great, so I want to cut them and reuse them. What's the min thickness though?

They barely look worm, so I'm probably good.

Edit: for an 06, front, with 12.6" rotors

IIRC, the 12.6" fronts are at nom 28.1mm and min is 26mm.

12.1" Rears are at nom 16mm and min is 14mm.

Thanks.

Front are 27.9, so I guess I'm good to go to get them cut and use them.

Rears are toast. I knew they were too thin, so I just let them go and said I'd change them when the pad backing plates started to scrape...which was 2 days ago. Got new rotors and pads for the rear going on next weekend.

How much do they take off when turning rotors? Guess it depends if they are grooved or whatever...but assuming they are in otherwise good shape?

I'm having the same problem as the OP on the wife's '05 Maxima. Same brakes as an '05 G35x. So, I'd like to know how much is typically taken off when a disc is "turned" too.

Some quick research tells me about 0.020" or 0.5 mm but maybe Blanchard grinding is better than turning.

I'll get a measurement when i get them done this week, but I think it's something like 0.010-0.020" or so.

Of course, it depends how out of true they are. These were not bad at all. When my car needed brakes, i ordered new rotors just for the hell of it. With the old rotors off, they looked perfectly fine, so i didn't want to throw them out. No grooves, or abnormal wear. If i really wanted to, i could prob toss them back on as-is...but i'd rather do a light resurface first.

Mine are 38mm
Many rotors will have the min stamped onto them.

I agree with the others above. It all depends on how much material they take off. You can specify that they only take them down to a certain amount if it works for you. I'm talking auto parts stores who turn them, not shops.
