I didnt burn it, I got a fresh oem clutch for 200 sum dollars so I just replaced the old one (which was soon to go). I was planning on doing a motor flush with Alcohol, good idea? Also, I dont think I ever replaced the differential fluid but I dont know if it needs to be changed or not? Any advice is well appreciated.
Nice. My '04 Sedan is approaching 140K and still drives just like I bought her when she was 57K (back in '08)... I must say, for my first car that I've had to make payments on, this one has been ENTIRELY hassle free (short of needing a new battery and occasional tires ... battery died cuz I have 2500 watts in my stereo, and tires ... well... yea... ;] )

My '03 G 35 sedan has turned 103k this week. Normal maintenance has all that has been done. I have used my local mechanics with great success and tremendous savings. So far, brakes, battery, and starter. I figure I should do plugs but am concerned having never worked with the individual coils, need to figure out how to disconnect them before making that decision.

I love my G 35, very glad I made the purchase. I purchased it in 2005 with 19K on it.

Did your starter fail or did you just replace it as preventative maintenance?

Starter failure

Jimmyc13, thanks for your question. My starter failed. It went into a sporadic functioning which left me with the starter not responding at all at 91K. No clicking or other symptomatic warnings. I would turn the key to start, the radio would come on, other electric features worked, but no action with the starter. I took it to my mechanic for service and as you can imagine it worked fine. The next time it failed I had the keys reset at the dealer for several hundred dollars. The battery was only a year old and showed it was performing well. This brought me back to the starter when the failure to engage the starter at all. We checked the solinoid then replaced the starter. My mechanic was able to replace with a rebuilt starter and install for $200.00. I checked with the dealer and searched G35 forum looking at an $1100 repair.

Other than the starter I have enjoyed my G35 sedan immensely. Turned 103K last week the only lingering problem is the high brake light doesn't work. I haven't chased that issue down, although the connection at the parcel shelve is solid. Any advice would be welcome.

David
