Talking Easiest AT Fluid and Filter change ever! 2004 G35

I just finished up replacing the AT Filter and fluid.
It sure was nice of Nissan to include a drain plug.
You would be surprised how many cars don't have one.

Start to finish was under two hours.
There was a lot of crud on the bottom of the pan and the magnets had a lot of debris.
It did not look like the previous owner did this in 123k mikes.

That Matic-S is a bit pricey... I could not find it cheap. 10.00 qt.

I am not looking forward to swapping the spark plugs.

Today I did my 2006 350z Roadster.

Thought you guys might like to see the bottom of that transmission.

It has a lot fewer wires than the G35.

Check eBay for the Matic-S. A few sellers have "make offer" type bids. A few months ago I bought 10 bottles @ $5.25 each.

I paid 118.00 for a case on Ebay cheapest I could find it.
It came from a Nissan Dealer in NC and I got it in two days.

Going to Nissan is not an option:
It is two hours to a Nissan Dealership...
Gas is 4.00 per gallon
I get 24MPG
100 miles to Nissan and 100 miles back. 32.00 added to the bill.
Plus my time is more valuable than sitting in a car to get fluid.

My actual cost was 67.25 per car that is including the filter kit.
Plus I was able to replace the gear oil in the rear end while they were in the air.

I think I did OK having it shipped to the house.

Now I have to do my Titan!

ugh, you flushed the trasmission? I heard it's not recommended. Only drain and refill but not flush it, it will damage the trasmission.

those 10-15 10mm bolts are the only thing holding the filter? is it designed to be removed easily

Its a bunch of pishposh the general consensus is that if something happens then it was already broke by just changing the fluid.

With that said, Its best to avoid it all and change it at 30k intervals

He didn't flush it, did he? Just did a more thorough drain and fill by dropping the pan and filter...I did the same thing at 127k with unknown trans service history with no issues. I probably wouldn't (and didn't) do a power flush of any kind without having done it regularly from an early age.

Yes, it is that easy...very messy, but easy

A flush is bad.
Flushing is done through the filler tube. Your transmission will start to leak after a flush.
Ask me how I know... Dodge Sucks!

It is a good idea to drop the pan.
It is not messy if you do it right. Messy is a car without a drain plug. Those ar just bad.
The goal for dropping the pan is to get the sludge from the bottom of the pan.
Also there are two magnets which need to be cleaned regularly.
If you think you are getting the pan even remotely clean with only a drain, you are wrong.
I should have taken pictures for the thick black mud which I wiped off the inside of the pan.
The magnets had its fair share of metal shavings, as well.
If you have already drained the pan, the additional fifteen minutes to drop the pan and clean it, is well worth the peice of mind.

This was earlier this year so hopefully they accept that price still. I still got some for my next drain/fill I'll prob do next spring. I should probably do the filter too now that I see how easy it is.
That guy is now 9.99 per quart when you buy 10 quarts...
That is more than I paid... 9.83 per quart.

It is simple to remove the filter.
The bolts come right out, there are three nuts, the come right off.
The ATF makes the the bolts spin freely.
There are three different size bolts. It is impossible to put them in the wrong hole.
The filter replacement is a no brainer... If Nissan mechanics can do it, you can do it. And it will be done correctly if you do it.

You have to figure in the shipping cost to the price.

6.99 per quart
12.00 shipping for the first bottle.
2.00 each additional bottle.

You said you bought ten quarts.
If you do the math without doing a "Best Offer" the total is 9.99 per quart.

When I bought mine I skipped the BS best offer and went right to a guy who was selling a case for 118.00 Buy it now with free shipping.
Much less hassle.

That is way too much effort for ATF.

I will pay the couple of dollars which you saved, just to get my stuff hassle free and quickly.
